[More Conventional?] : ● ; ; wave board ● children’s bikes; “Big ” ● ● rollerblades ● Heelys ● scooter ● ● walkers; scooter crutches/walkers ● tilts; crutches; sticks ● stroller ● pedal ; ● skates ●

Water: ● inner tubes ● rafts ● boats; ● standup paddleboard ● surfing

Ice/: ● ● skis ● skating ●

Miscellaneous/Others: ● wingsuits ● ziplines ● hanglide ● ! ● pogo stick! ●

NOTE that uses for transportation we came up with include for: work, social, exercise, fun, artistic expression

IDEAS/thoughts: (maybe put name in parens so we know who to ask for more details) ● party bikes/rafts (to up social interaction) ● social thing that brings together people using same kind of transportation (e.g. strollers; scooters) ● exercise transportation (theoretical idea) ● cause people to pay more attention to the environment around them? ● leave a trail (maybe invisible?) behind you ● transportation GAMES? (e.g. geocaching w/scooters) ● wheelchair with some easy detachment “stand up” form to deal with getting out/up easier? (Clare) ● something for blind people: to express themselves to others? via sounds? visuals? like something that dynamically changes color (others see) while pulsing (they feel at the same time)? (Clare) ● humanpowered Segwayscooter (Segway comes in with the balance?) (Clare) ● something that brings music and transportation together: like a instrument that you can play by the act of moving? (Clare) ● augmented reality game that involves attaching Nerf guns to human powered transportation and you can drive them around and shoot other people, like scooters with a button that would fire the gun that's attached to the scooter (Oren)

Meeting: 3/3/14 ● Something with giving/getting directions ● Kitemessengers? ● Scooter “selfie” picturetaker ● Something to put you back into memory of childhood? ● Growing plants…? ● Chalk/paint trail stuff? More adult/aesthetically pleasing version? ● Glowinthedark stuff? Invisible stuff (until a certain time in the future)? ● Sustainable graffiti? Flowerbased paint, mudandwater mixture… use a device to tell people you’ve been before. ● Leaking paint thing to show wasted energy by cars, buses, etc. ● Measure energy in unique units (cupcakes, etc.) ● Program to add own drawings to based on geographic location… virtual “world”... see things in a different way? ● Shoes!? ○ stepping with the same steps: swaying bridge ○ lights only turn on when next to someone else or walking in step with them ○ sounds ○ Lights on shoe changing depending on pressure ○ Customizable footprint ● Airbag scarf kinda thing: personal space buffer ● Weird thing about bikes vs pedestrians: people dodge/dart at weird speeds/directions ● Projected path thing? ○ Pedestrians can tell where you’re going to go ○ Turn the way the bike tells you to turn ● chase with UCPD ● Shirts that light up (can light up with WiFi strengths; playable guitar) ○ What would we want shoes to react to? ■ Area of crime? ○ “Proper footwear?” ○ Toms: what else can we give these needy kids? ■ Ability to connect with someone else’s shoes? ● Sync shoes with people ○ Shoes that record what path you’ve been following ○ AMBIGUOUS DESIGN? ■ Hertzian something? ○ Picks one signal and links with that one; looks for a different signal ■ Could turn into a game: what am I connected to? (Someone’s phone, etc.) ○ Sounds AND lights? Each connected to something different? ○ Visual display rather than purely connecting with someone for the sake of connection ○ Chat roulette with shoe walking ○ Location recording shoes; pass ‘em on & see where they go

DISCUSSION: Clare’s group: like lightup kiddie shoes dance? synchronized noise depending on steps. change environment? (ground)... maybe signals? radiation, air quality, … (too scary?) (Oren: already done, it seems) metal detector shoes… commentary on carbon footprint? glow different colors tank shoes?! moonwalker...Jetsons.

Max’s group: encourage moving around by changing colors when less movement detected (for longer) specify kind of shoes ubiquitous shoe: the “city shoe” (Zoe) from shoe’s perspective

Oren’s group: shoes guiding you somewhere: you don’t know where you’re going friends guiding you friends can record their trails; you can follow. (Andrew) GPS directs you to nearest cool thing in city

Max: walk to free your mind; no specific purpose (not just A to B; or someone else’s A to B)

Zoe: French group that did hallucinogens first, then walked through city (no agenda) Oren: turn signalsright foot for right turn, left foot for left (either lights or vibration)

Andrew’s group: LEDs in shoe; different combinations for different networks picked up (WiFi, bluetooth)

Zoe’s group: visualize something invisible… but does that become too passive? vs. guiding, etc. multiple wearers → sense proximity

Max: hacked mode of transportation between people (RE: knowing where people are going video)

So… do we want to LEAD somewhere, SENSE something, or do both?

Oren: I like the idea of playing with distance as time (“10 min. away,” etc.)

Clare: Shoes on telephone lines? Our shoes broadcasting stuff? (but then not transportation… but COULD communicate with moving shoes on ground)

So… limit to city/urban environment?

Max: we should make a good video, regardless.

Oren: [agreed] implementation isn’t the goal. Semiworking prototype for video works fine.
