Peacehaven was established in 1916 by entrepreneur Charles Neville, who purchased land here to divide into building plots. He set a national competition advertised in the , to choose the name. A Mrs Ethel Radford of Leicestershire submitted the winning entry of ‘Peacehaven’ was born in 1917.
