Besides he is a co- founder of the traditional international haiku meeting with contest in Klostar Ivani} and of the Haiku Association “Three Rivers” in Ivani} Grad, last but not least publisher of the haiku magazine IRIS. Strangely enough, Stjepan has remained a lifelong resident of his birthplace and hometown of Ivani} Grad, 40 km east of Zagreb. Djurdja Vukeli}-Ro`i}, his wife and a haijin herself since 1992, not only brought him up to his love for the haiku but is also his transla- tor as he does not speak English. Their second common love is tak- ing an active part in music, composing songs, choral singing etc. Stjepan in addition is interested in artistic photography which helps him to illustrate his publications. Although both of them come from working-class families it is quite amazing to learn that especially Stjepan has a natural talent for the art of haiku since he was already awarded in one of his first attempts the Tokusen, the second prize, in the International Haiku Contest ItoEn, Tokyo, Japan, in 1997. And his own wife once gave another significant evidence when characterizing her husband as follows: “If a friend knowing me as a writer of poetry had not given me a haiku collection as a present, Stjepan would not have written any haiku, it is true, but would nevertheless have lived the haiku way without being aware of it, in other words being a haiku poet without having written any poem.” Well, “Song of a Nightingale” undoubtedly provides proof of this particular disposition of his, for it is quite noticeably imbued with a refreshingly down-to-earth approach to the phenomena and creatures of his immediate surroundings, his garden and yard, the hedges, meadows, and fields around his house. No wonder that the main part of this collection, all in all about 250 texts, follows the course of the four seasons introduced by a sequence especially dedicated to the enchanting bird that gave the book its title, and completed by the smaller sections Kajkavian Dia- - 5 - Stjepan Ro`i} Song of a Nightingale lect, Belfries, and Senryu. In consequence we meet precise obser- vations rendered into a simple diction easily allowing a comparison with Issa's sensitivity. At the same time the expessive effect is often heightened by poetic devices, though skilfully applied in rather an intuitive way without ever becoming obtrusive. Here are examples: singing tree tops amidst a meadow nightingale everywhere and nowhere a cow chained to a pole spring morning rings the bell following every wave high above a hungry a stone emerges inhaling chilled hare sea air the snowman's red nose Like this the author fortunately avoids wandering off into idyllic settings, and he also shows the necessary restraint when touch- ing on social affairs, a discipline and balance rarely found with other authors: the power plant chimney beside the park bench filling the sky field a waste basket full of with a herd of clouds bread and sparrows old woman sighing in bloody mud by the yard door still together wedding procession a soldier and his rifle A final remark on some technical items: According to Stjepan's traditional view of things he starts out with the classical 5-7-5 sylla- ble format, a principle which is of course handled less strictly in the translations which however, happily enough, do not suffer from those typical shortcomings of renderings from Balkan pieces of literature, e.g. in the usage of the articles. Furthermore only these texts some- times show indented lines for no discernible reason, may be only for aesthetic purposes or for a better differentiation from the Croatian originals. To sum up, “Song of a Nightingale” is a collection highly recommended to beginners as well as connoisseurs who are looking for examples of the unaffected bright haiku spirit wafting through nature's infinite storehouse. Klaus-Dieter Wirth - 6 - Stjepan Ro`i} Biglisanje BIGLISANJE Stjepan Ro`i} Biglisanje je Stjepanova druga samostalna zbirka haiku poezije, mada haiku bilje`i jo{ od 1996. godine na hrvatskom jeziku i kajkavskom narje~ju, a ~iji su brojni prijevodi objavljeni u me|unarodnim ~asopisima i antologijama. Osim toga, suosniva~ je tradicionalnih, me|unarodnih haiku susreta s nagradnim natje~ajom u Klo{tar Ivani}u kao i udruge haiku pjesnika “Tri rijeke” u Ivani} Gradu, nakladnika ~asopisa za haiku poeziju IRIS haiku magazine. Za ~udo, Stjepan `ivi u svom rodnom gradu Ivani}-Gradu cijeli `ivot, 40 km isto~no od Zagreb. Djurdja Vukeli}-Ro`i}, njegova supruga i haiku pjesnikinja od 1992., ne samo da ga je upoznala s haiku pjesni{tvom ve} je i njegov prevoditelj. Druga ljubav koju dijele je glazba, komponiranje, zborsko pjevanje itd. Nadalje, Stjepana zanima i umjetni~ka fotografija kojom i ilustrira zbirku. Mada oboje dolaze iz radni~kih obitelji, zanimljivo je to {to, naro~ito Stjepan ima uro|eni prirodni dar za umjetnost haikua, nagra|en drugom nagradom na ItoEn-ovu natje~aju 1997. za haiku koji je nastao me|u prvima koje je ikada zapisao. Njegova supruga jednom je o svom suprugu rekla: “Da mi prijateljica, znaju}i da pi{em poeziju, nije poklonila zbirku haiku poezije, Stjepan ne bi pisao haiku, to je istina, no i nadalje bi `ivio spontanim haiku `ivotom a da toga nije svjestan, drugim rije~ima, `ivio bi `ivotom haiku pjesnika bez da je zapisao i jedan jedini haiku.” Biglisanje bez dvoumljenja potvr|uje ovu specifi~nu sklonost, jer je ova njegova zna~ajka vidljivo pro`eta sa svje`im, realnim pristupom pojavama i stvorenjima u njegovoj najbli`oj okolini, njegov vrt i dvori{te, `ivice, livade i polja oko ku}e. Nije ~udo da je glavni dio ove zbirke, sve u svemu oko 250 pjesama, slijedi tijek ~etiri godi{nja doba predstavljenih dijelom posebno posve}enom ~udesnoj ptici koja je zbirci dala i naslov, a zavr{ava manjim dijelovima na kajkavskom narje~ju, zvonicima i senrjuom. Kao rezultat susre}emo detaljisti~ku mo} opa`aja predo~enu jednostanim rje~nikom {to bez pote{ko}a dovodi do usporedbe sa senzibilitetom jednoga Isse. Istovremeno, izra`aj je - 7 - Stjepan Ro`i} Song of a Nightingale ~esto nagla{en vje{to ugra|enim, nenametljivim, intuitivnim pjesni~kim figurama. Primjeri: pjevaju kro{nje sred livade slavuj nigdje - slavuj svuda na lancu oko stupa proljetno jutro zvonca krava iza svakog vala visoko nad gladnim izranja kamen udi{u}i promrzlim zecom crven morski zrak nos snjegovi}a Na taj na~in autor sretno izbjegava zalutati u idili~ne situacije, te tako|er pokazuje potrebnu uzdr`ljivost kada se doti~e dru{tvenih odnosa, disciplina i ravnote`a rijetko vi|ena u drugih autora: dimnjak toplane kraj klupe u parku puni nebesko polje ko{ za otpatke pun stadom oblaka kruha i vrabaca stara babica u krvavom blatu na lesi stiha zdehava miruju zagrljeni svadba sprehaja vojnik i pu{ka Nekoliko tehni~kih opaski: prema Stjepanovom tradicionalnom gledanju na stvari, on po~inje s klasi~nom formom haiku pjesme od po 5-7-5 slogova, princip koji dakako nije mogu}e pratiti u prevo|enju koje na svu sre}u ne podlije`e tipi~nim nedostacima u prijevodima literature s Balkana, odnosno upotrebe ~lanova. Nadalje, samo ovi tekstovi ponekad imaju uvu~ene retke, tek zbog estetskih razloga ili za bolje diferenciranje od hrvatskog originala. Zaklju~no, Biglisanje/Song of a Nightingale je zbirka koju rado preporu~am po~etnicima kao i znalcima koji su u potrazi za neusiljenim duhom haikua {to struji kroz beskrajno skladi{te prirode. Obmoœje obœine meri 123 km2 ter obsega 17 krajevnih skupnosti oziroma 23 naselij. Obœina ima status narodnostno meøane obœine, saj v njenih naseljih – razen Benice in Hotize – ob veœinskem slovenskem narodu æivi avtohtona madæarska narodnostna skupnost. Obœina ima 12.083 prebivalcev, od tega jih je pribliæno 5.300 madæarske narodnosti. Lendva községet - mint közigazgatási egységet - 1998-ban alapították a községek alapításáról és területi meghatározásáról szóló törvény módosításával. A község területe 123 km2, amely 17 helyi közösségre és 23 településre terjed ki.

Letošnja 18. izvedba festivala, katerega začetek sega v leto 2003, nosi naslov NO MORE SILENCE (Brez tišine) in je pravzaprav nadaljevanje preteklih uspešnih sezon, imenovanih Prihodnost (Future), Krhkost (Fragile) in Naravnost (NaturAL(L)). NO MORE SILENCE je aktualno vodilo festivala ART STAYS, a hkrati tudi opozorilo, saj ponuja kritičen, mestoma dramatično ironičen pristop do časa, v katerem živimo. Že pred časom začeta raziskava, ki temelji na predpostavki, da moramo z najvišjo stopnjo nujnosti prisluhniti ranljivosti našega sveta, če želimo preoblikovati prihodnost, in ki se je danes znašla v nepričakovani, zlasti iz tišine sestavljeni in v času covida-19 redenirani fazi, se ozira na zvok, glasbo, besedo, praznino, notranji in zunanji konikt ter na človekovo nenehno željo, da omogoči glas prostoru, času, komunikaciji in odnosom. Celovit program letošnjega leta, ki vključuje vse pomembnejše zgodovinske, umetnostne, kulturne, družbene in politične javne ter zasebne ustanove ART STAYS, Festival of Contemporary Art in Ptuj, has over the years been consolidated as a European event that offers visibility to projects and works by emerging talents and established artists in the eld of arts. This bibliography is devoted to publications on grape-growing and wine-making published in Slovenia or in Slovenian from the mid-19th century until the end of the Second World War. This body of literature is practical, generally offering advice or news useful to both viticulturalists and enologists in Slovenia (under Austrian rule from the 1850s until 1918, and within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and German occupation from 1918 until 1945.
