Mini Applique Quilts Instructions Supplies • OESD Fuse & Fleece 10” x 15” (or piece large enough to hoop) • Background Fabric 10” x 15” (or large enough to hoop) • Appliqué fabrics (see appliqué patterns for size and colors needed for the selected design) • Backing fabric 7” square • Batting 7” square • 505 Temporary Adhesive Spray • Isacord embroidery threads • 2/3 yard binding of your choice

Instructions 1. Press the fusible side of the OESD Fuse & Fleece to the wrong side of the 10” x 15” background fabric. Photo 01 2. Hoop the fabric and OESD Fuse & Fleece together, centering Photo 1 Photo 2 in the hoop. Photo 02 3. Follow the thread chart to stitch the design, stopping PRIOR to the color change titled “Background”. For each appliqué piece in the design: a. Stitch the placement stitch. Photo 03 b. Lightly spray the appliqué fabric with 505 temporary adhesive spray. Place over the placement stitch. Photo 04 c. Stitch the Tackdown & Cut Line. Photo 05 d. Trim the appliqué fabric as close to the Tackdown/cut line as possible. Photo 06 Photo 3 Photo 4 e. Stitch the cover stitch. Photo 07 4. Prior to stitching the “Background” color change, remove the hoop from the machine, but do not remove the project from the hoop. Flip the hoop over. Photo 08 5. Lightly spray the 7” batting with 505 temporary adhesive spray and smooth onto the backside of the hoop, Photo 5 Photo 6 Photo 7 centering over the design. Photo 09 6. Lightly spray the 7” backing fabric with 505 temporary adhesive spray and smooth onto the backside of the hoop, centering over the design. Photo 10

7. Wind a bobbin (it will not need to be full) with the same color Isacord thread you wish to stitch the background quilting with. The quilting stitch is a fun opportunity to use Isacord Multi Threads. Photo 11 8. Thread the machine with the matching top and bottom thread. Place the hoop back on the machine and stitch the color Photo 11 Photo 12 Photo 13 change called “Background”. Photo 12 9. Stitch the final color change, called “Seam Stitch”. The Background and Seam Stitch will stitch through all layers. Photo 13 and 14 10. Remove the project from the hoop. Using a quilt ruler and rotary cutter, trim all layers to ¼” from the Seam Stitch. All rights reserved. Mini Applique Quilts Instructions Pre-Cut Appliqué Instructions 1. Print out the necessary pages from the PDF of the appliquè pattern(s). 2. Mark the right side of the pattern pieces so you’ll know which direction to lay the pattern on the fabric. 3. Lightly spray the wrong side of the pattern pieces with temporary adhesive spray and allow it to set for a few minutes. 4. Place the pattern pieces on the right side of the fabric and carefully cut them out. PHOTO 1 5. Sew the placement stitch on your hooped fabric. PHOTO 2 6. With the paper still stuck to the right side of the appliqué fabric, spray the wrong side of the fabric with temporary spray adhesive. 7. Place the fabric inside the sewing placement stitch so that it matches the stitching line, and then remove the paper pattern. PHOTO 3 8. Sew the tackdown. PHOTO 4 9. Sew the remainder of the design and repeat for any remaining pieces. PHOTO 5

NOTE: The patterns are sized for the designs as they were made. If you resize the design, you will need to resize the pattern the same amount. You can print out the pattern at the normal size then copy it on a copy machine at the changed size. For example, resize the designs to 80%, resize the printed pattern to 80%.

TIP: When Printing the patterns, make sure that the “Fit to page” option is UNCHECKED in the Print Dialog Box. If this option is checked the printed patterns will not be actual size.
