International House Photo: Hege Førsvoll/NTNU ”I am very proud to welcome you all to and to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Even though we are far north, we are an integral part of the international academic community.

We welcome many international students from different parts of the world. When students from different countries mix with eachother, work, study and spend leisure time together, they are in a better position to understand those with other backgrounds. This makes life easier for us all, on our campus and in the world in general.

Good luck with your studies at NTNU and with your life as a student in Trondheim.

On Thursday morning we will join the Bymarka hiking trip. We will be going on a five-hour hike to Copper Valley (hike G). More information about the hiking trip can be found on the next page. Please evaluate your fitness level and equipment before registering for the camping trip and hike.

ALL 18:00 Viking Game: Meet in the garden at (Ribbon) Kubb Tournament International House

Viking Game - KUBB Tournament

The Norwegian summer course students invite you to a game of Kubb. Although, it is often claimed that the game dates back to the Viking Age, there is no firm evidence of this. Today’s version originated on the island of Gotland in Sweden.

Slight variations of the rules exists, but the ultimate object of the game is to knock over the kubbs of the opposing side, and then knock the ”king” over, before the opponents do. This, together with the strategic nature of the game, has led some players to call it ”Viking Chess.”

You must come to this event to get a free ticket to the Great Hall Disco at Studentersamfundet.
