More information • ntnu.edu/studies • facebook.com/NTNUinternational International House Photo: Hege Førsvoll/NTNU ”I am very proud to welcome you all to Trondheim and to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Even though we are far north, we are an integral part of the international academic community. We welcome many international students from different parts of the world. When students from different countries mix with eachother, work, study and spend leisure time together, they are in a better position to understand those with other backgrounds. This makes life easier for us all, on our campus and in the world in general. Good luck with your studies at NTNU and with your life as a student in Trondheim. A ‘lavvo’ is a tent traditionally used by the Sami people. It is similar to a Native American tipi but is less vertical and more stable in high winds. It is still used as a temporary shelter by the Sami, but it is also a popular camping tent as it can accommodate large groups. We will provide the tents, but you have to bring your own sleeping bag. In addition, you will need good shoes and a backpack. More information will be provided by email to those who have registered for the trip. On Thursday morning we will join the Bymarka hiking trip. We will be going on a five-hour hike to Copper Valley (hike G).
