This film features the last performance by Rance Howard.
A Tribute to Rance Howard “Dad’s last and career best movie role in the beautiful Apple Seed (directed by Michael Worth) was extraordinary” – Ron Howard. Rance Howard was born in 1928 in Duncan, Oklahoma and took to the acting bug early. By the late 40s, he was acting in New York City and touring with Henry Fonda in the play “Mister Roberts.” His eldest son, future director Ron, would land a role in the 1956 film Frontier Woman and as such, would be the elder Rance’s feature film debut as well. Along with the youngest member of the Howard clan Clint, the family would begin a long and enduring career, each in their own right. From staple shows such as Gunsmoke and Bonanza to memorable roles in films such as Cool Hand Luke, Chinatown, A Beautiful Mind, Ed Wood and Nebraska, Rance would continue to string together a most impressive resume. Rance would work with Apple Seed actor/ director Michael Worth for the first time when they shot Ghost Rock at Old Tucson . The Arizona International Film Festival is honored to premiere Apple Seed and pay tribute to Rance Howard.
