Ellis that the regular Council meeting T of September 26,2001 proceed into 'public hearing' J at 10:05 am for the purpose of receiving public input for proposed Bylaw 407-01. ^ CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY * Olga Lovatt presented the Lindale Area StructurePlan to Council. ^ Francis Lachance stated that the residents would like to see the school stay in the community and to do that the community needs to attract more people and he feels that the Area Structure Plan 1 will provide the planning for the community to grow. 1 Tom Wall agreed wholeheartedly with the project Mr. Wall <^ offered to iead adelegation to the School Division in support for j the plan to keep the Lindale School. Wes Tweedle also stated that this was a real good start to ^ building the community. DaveJenner asked what systemwould provide water and would « there be water wells or something else. J Olga Lovatt replied that water wells would be used In the first stageand inthe second stage possibly a water system would be ^ incorporated. j Dave Jenner stated that in Phase III the proposed Lagoon is _ located adjacent to his property and he does not want to see it 1 constructed there. * Olga Lovatt replied thatthe lagoon would have to be properly f». engineered and would adhere to Provincial regulations, which have been improved. Dave Jenner stated that sewageis sewageand he doesn't want it built near his land. Jean Stewart referred to the lagoon and water site inStony Plain. She stated that the ducks swimaround on the lagoon and then fly over to swim in the water supply. Another resident stated that she also agreed with the project. •< A % Cody McClintock stated thatthe Wild Rose School Division did not have anyconcerns with the proposed Lindale Area Structure Plan.

The increased attention to children’s exposure has prompted child protection authorities to make changes to their policies, in an attempt to protect children. Despite the well-intentioned nature of these efforts, they have been criticized for producing negative consequences, such as, re-victimizing battered women, ignoring abusive men, and failing to protect children.

    2000 – 2001 Annual Report Message from the Chair The Northern Alberta Development Council is pleased to present its Annual Report for 2000-2001. The past year has been an exciting one for northern Alberta. The socio-economic development of the North continues to make a significant contribution to The Alberta Advantage. The Council focuses its efforts on the realization of opportunities to advance northern development, while addressing barriers that may affect development. During 2000-2001, the Council carried out initiatives in the following areas: • the promotion of emerging development opportunities, especially value-added ones; • involvement in initiatives related to various aspects of northern development; and • increasing northern skill levels as a way to encourage northern participation in the economy. The Council’s success rests with the contributions made by project partners, northern stakeholders, members and staff. By working together we will continue to build a strong northern Alberta, today and in the future. The Council has nine public members and one elected member of the Legislative Assembly. The NADC Region Northern Alberta has a diverse resource base and is a key contributor to the economy. One hundred per cent of Alberta’s oil sands production is in the North and 90 per cent of its forests. Northern Alberta also accounts for almost 40 per cent of the province’s current conventional oil and gas development activity and has about 20 per cent of its agricultural land.
