ITINERARY

This itinerary will make you discover one of the most beautiful valleys of Trentino, rich in wonderful natural environments, but with also an important cultural and historical background. During the tour you will cross part of the Piana Rotaliana where you will visit the Museum of Rural Customs and Traditions of Trentino. Then it will lead you to the heart of the valley: Saint Giustina Dam and , the main city centre of the valley. Here you will visit Palazzo Assessorile, an important example of art between the Middle-age and the Renaissance. If you would like to enrich your guided tour, there is the possibility to visit some “clesiane” churches, such as Saint Tommaso Church in Dres, Saint Vigilio Church and Saint Paolo and Pietro Church in Maiano. Returning back in , there is the chance to stop at Mondo Melinda to taste the apples and other related products or, in alternative, to stop by a family-run wine cellar in the Piana Rotaliana.

The Museum located in San Michele is considered one of the most important museum about customs and traditions. The museum is situated inside a medieval Augustinian monastery and it present a modern disposition, thought for educational purposes with tools, objects and machines organised following their historical evolution. The museum is 2500 square metres wide and it is articulated on three floors. The artefacts are divided into different sections: agriculture, iron and copper manufacturing, weaving, mountain pasture, wooden tools production, viticulture, heating techniques, traditional clothing and cooking. Among the materials exposed, some of them are very complex such as the mill, the power hammer, the Venetian sawmill and the wine press. It is possible to attend all the productive cycle of the work in all the singular sectors through its different phases thanks to the reconstruction of the most important and more significant objects.

> SAINT GIUSTINA DAM

Saint Giustina Dam owe its name to an ancient hermitage and it was built between 1943 and 1950. It is 152,5 metres high and it blocks the flow of the Stream Noce and it creates the Saint Giustina Lake. It is the widest hydroelectric basin of Trentino.

> PALAZZO ASSESSORILE – CLES

Cles is the renowned administrative centre of Val di Non and it is situated on a lush shelf on bank of Saint Giustina Lake. The city represent the cultural, commercial and directive centre of the valley. A very important place is Palazzo Assessorile, that was reopened in 2009 after some restoration works and that represents an important example of art between the Middle Age and the Renaissance and between German and Latin culture.
