Description and Purpose:

Boeing Defence Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business unit, is one of Australia’s leading aerospace enterprises. It has a world-class team of about 1,300 employees at 16 locations throughout Australia and three international sites.

History

Boeing’s presence in Australia dates back to 1937 when North American Aviation Inc., now part of Boeing, licensed an Australian company named Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation to build a prototype training aircraft. The prototype was

successful and after World War II manufacturing began on additional aircraft for the RAAF at the Government Aircraft Factories (GAF) facilities.

GAF was renamed Aerospace Technologies of Australia (ASTA) in 1987 and in 1995 Government sold elements of ASTA to Rockwell Systems Australia. This provided the company with capabilities in aircraft production, aircraft modification and component manufacture and service, and it changed its name to Rockwell Australia Limited later that year.

Strategic mergers and acquisions have helped Boeing to become the world’s largest and most diversified aerospace company. In 1997, The Boeing Company as we know it today was formed with the acquisition of Rockwell International and McDonnel Douglas, bringing with them platforms like the Super Hornet that have beome valued capabilities for the RAAF.

Boeing Defence Australia supports some of the largest and most complex programs for the Commonwealth of Australia, the Australian Defence Force—including the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Australian , Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), and Royal Australian (RAN)—and domestic and international defence and commercial customers.

Organised into the three divisions—Information & Operational Services, Integrated Logistics, and Tactical Derivative Aircraft—Boeing Defence Australia brings the best of Boeing and industry together to deliver world-class performance, systems and capabilities.

Integrated Logistics: Integrated Logistics provides platform maintenance and upgrades, and component maintenance solutions in addition to training systems and services for key customers. The division prides itself on its ability to deliver world class logistics solutions that support platforms and complex systems to maximise operational readiness while reducing the cost of ownership. Projects and/or key capabilities include:
