Advice and recommendations relate m Mod Inbhimis Anne Souter Convener, Mod Naiseanta Rioghail Inbhirnis, 1997 It gives me great pleasure as Convener of the Inverness Royal National Mod to extend a very warm welcome to all competitors and visitors to Inverness. This is the twelfth Mod to be held in the Highland Capital, the first having been held in 1897, making this the Centenary Mod for Inverness. A record number of entries have been received and we anticipate this Mod to be the largest ever held. The Local Committee have worked exceptionally hard over the past three years. I would like to pay tribute to all who have so willingly given of their time to help ensure that this will be a very special Mod for us all. On behalf of the whole Committee I would like to thank all who have assisted us in our struggle to reach our target, especially the former Inverness District Council, Highland Council, Inverness & Naim Enterprise, Narden Services Ltd and Scottish Co-op. Our gratitude also to the Management and Staff of the Cummings Hotel, Inverness for their unlimited assistance and co-operation.
