Selections on opprovol, &c· I have a large and varied stock of good British Colonial and F oreig n Stamps in books according to country. These books have been arranged and classified, special attention beiig paid to all varieties of colour, watermark, perforations, plate No., etc., etc. I shall be pleased to send books as above, or to make up selections of Rare Stamps and submit same on approval. A good stock of Rare Stamps in fine condition always on hand, especially those of the early issues of the English Colonies, and from time to time I flave for sale some of the Rarest Stamps existing. I shall be obliged if advanced collectors and specialists would send me particulars of their requirements. Frequently I have in stock collections containing from 2,000 to ιο,οοο varieties, which 1 shall be pleased to forward on three or four days’ approval to collectors desiring same. All stamps in these collections are priced singly. Correspondents unknown to me who desire to have books or selections of rare stamps on approval, must accompany application with references. I do not send out common approval sheets. Books o f Medium stamps are sent on receipt o f references, while collectors who desire common stamps are referred to pages 15-19, where a variety of suitable packets will be found. — New Issues· Special arrangements can be made for collectors desiring new issues which will be put aside as received, and supplied at a small fixed per centage on face value ; all such stamps may be taken, or they will be supplied in certain groups and also with limits as to denomination, etc., thus making a most economical method of collecting; explanatory circular on application. 2 W. A silver-red Boeing 707 from New York landed at London airport. A crowd of press reporters, newsreel-cameramen and others milled around, filled with excitement. Mr 'Finber Kenny climbed out with the 'One-Cent' British Guiana stamp. This 'one-cent' stamp had been insured at £200,000 (Rs 46,00,(00) and was specially brought by a 'bodyguard' for display at the Stanley Gibbons Catalogue Centenary Exhibition in London, Next morning that priceless piece of paper was the topic of the day. All the papers carried headlines on it and the BBC did a special programme with a close-up of the stamp. What was so remarkable about a scrap of old black-and-magenta paper? The story of this stamp is very interesting. In earlier days the stamps of British Guiana were printed by a British printer, Waterlow &' .Sons. In 1856, the stock of stamps was exhausted but a fresh supply had failed to arrive. So the postmaster hurriedly had 4-cent stamps printed locally using the existing design, the seal of. the colony­ a ship and the motto 'Damus Petimusque Vicis sim' (We give and we seek in turn).

In examining the wider logic of French imperial expansion around the Mediterranean, this dissertation bridges the Revolutionary, Napoleonic, Restoration (1815-30), July Monarchy (1830-48), Second Republic (1848-52), and Second Empire (1852-70) periods. Moreover, this study represents the first comprehensive study of interactions between imperial officers and local actors around the Mediterranean.

Siegel’s Peace on Our Terms: The Global Battle for Women’s Rights after the First World War offers an insightful and engaging combination of history and biography that sheds new light on the history of the First World War, the history of France and its relationship with the world, and the transnational history of women and women’s movements. Where Margaret MacMillan’s Paris 1919 focused on the work of the men who came to Paris from around the world to participate in the peace conference that ended the First World War, Siegel’s new Peace on Our Terms highlights the contributions of female activists who lobbied diplomats for women’s equality in Paris, fought for national independence and women’s rights in Cairo and Beijing, represented demands for racial equality at a key Pan-African conference in Paris and a key women’s peace conference in Zurich, and fought for better conditions for working women at two important labor conferences in Washington, DC, all in the same single momentous year of 1919.[1] Where historians of women and their international activism have often focused their attention on the study of women’s networks or women’s organizations, Siegel’s book takes a more biographical approach by highlighting the interconnected international activities of a series of especially interesting and important individual women as a way of studying the contributions of women from around the globe.[2] Siegel’s prologue, six chapters, and epilogue each focus on a different set of world locations and highlight the work of activists from a different combination of countries.

    The notions of International Relations (IR) in capital letters and international relations (ir) in lowercase letters have two different meanings. The first refers to a scholarly discipline while the second one means a set of contemporary events with historical importance, which influences global-politics. In order to make observations, formulate theories and describe patterns within the framework of ‘IR’, one needs to fully comprehend specific events related to ‘ir’. It is why the Institute for Cultural Relations Policy (ICRP) believes that a timeline on which all the significant events of international relations are identified might be beneficial for students, scholars or professors who deal with International Relations. In the following document all the momentous wars, treaties, pacts and other happenings are enlisted with a monthly division, which had considerable impact on world-politics. January 1800 | Nationalisation of the Dutch East Indies The Dutch East Indies was a Dutch colony that became modern Indonesia following World War II. It was formed 01 from the nationalised colonies of the Dutch East India Company, which came under the administration of the Dutch government in 1800. 1801 | Establishment of the United Kingdom On 1 January 1801, the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland united to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. This hotspot was among the first three selected to receive funding because of its unparalleled biodiversity and the many imminent factors threatening its existence. This special report of five years of CEPF investment in the hotspot draws from CEPF experience, lessons learned, and project monitoring, including a review of final project reports compiled by civil society groups supported during the period. All available final project reports can be accessed in the Publications section of the CEPF Web site, www.cepf.net. The report also draws from the results of a questionnaire to CEPF grant recipients in the region in preparation for a 2006 assessment workshop in Antananarivo, Madagascar, as well as

The Nuclear Proliferation International History Project (NPIHP) is a global network of individuals and institutions engaged in the study of international nuclear history through archival documents, oral history interviews and other empirical sources. Recognizing that today’s toughest nuclear challenges have deep roots in the past, NPIHP seeks to transcend the East vs. West paradigm to work towards an integrated international history of nuclear weapon proliferation. The continued proliferation of nuclear weapons is one of the most pressing security issues of our time, yet the empirically-based study of international nuclear history remains in its infancy. NPIHP’s programs to address this central issue include: • the annual Nuclear Boot Camp for M.A. and Ph.D. candidates to foster a new generation of experts on the international history of nuclear weapons; • the NPIHP Fellowship Program for advanced Ph.D. students and post-doctoral researchers hosted by NPIHP partner institutions around the world; • a coordinated, global research effort which combines archival mining and oral history interviews conducted by NPIHP partners; • a massive translation and digitization project aimed at making documentary evidence on international nuclear history broadly accessible online; • a series of conferences, workshops and seminars hosted by NPIHP partners around the world.
