The big picture view is that the news they report on clearly supports and favors keeping and preserving the status quo and thus the wealth and power of the largest companies and industries on the planet…not the common man. The TV networks, websites, newspapers, magazines owned by Rupert Murdoch have been at best been reluctant to publish or report on anything that doesn’t support the various big businesses that continue to fund their media empire with advertising dollars. Most articles when scrutinized commonly reveal that important facts have been omitted whenever the subject pertains to: climate change, alternative energy and electric cars etc in addition to supporting right-wing conservative political issues. Almost comical is how the News Corp media sources often use each other as information sources without ever disclosing any real or meaningful source information. In some cases they have even gone so far as trying to persuade their readers that climate change and global warming could be “a good thing” i.e. in the article “Climate change threat to Australia’s top wines”, which appeared in several News Corp newspapers and websites in Australia. Such statements as: “However, not all believe changing temperatures will be bad for the industry. Natural resources manager for national wine industry body Wine Makers Australia Jonathon Green said some grapes could actually improve with the change. “It’s not necessarily bad and probably depends on the region and variety,” Mr Green said.” In fairness the article did mention that Australia’s $5.5 billion wine industry will need to adapt, and some of their favorite wines could go extinct, what horrors! The article fails to mention a host of huge negative effects that climate change is currently having and will continue to have throughout the world in the years to come. At a time when the U.S. has been weighed down by its slowest recovery since the Great Depression, when Europe’s currency threatens its union and, I might add when our critics flood the field with stories that refuse to move beyond the misdeeds at two of our papers in Britain, I am delighted to report something about News Corporation you Rupert Murdoch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer might not know from the headlines: News Corporation In 2012, for the second year in a row, we have brought our stockholders double-digit growth in total segment operating income. • Media Ownership Chart
In 1983, 50 corporations controlled the vast majority of all news media in the U.S. At the time, Ben Bagdikian was called "alarmist" for pointing this out in his book, The Media Monopoly . In his 4th edition, published in 1992, he wrote "in the U.S., fewer than two dozen of these extraordinary creatures own and operate 90% of the mass media" -- controlling almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies. He predicted then that eventually this number would fall to about half a dozen companies. This was greeted with skepticism at the time. When the 6th edition of The Media Monopoly was published in 2000, the number had fallen to six. Since then, there have been more mergers and the scope has expanded to include new media like the Internet market. More than 1 in 4 Internet users in the U.S. now log in with AOL Time-Warner, the world's largest media corporation. In 2004, Bagdikian's revised and expanded book, The New Media Monopoly , shows that only 5 huge corporations -- Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch's News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS) -- now control most of the media industry in the U.S. General Electric's NBC is a close sixth. Drinking from the Fountain of Youth? Brand rejuvenation in the case of heritage luxury fashion brands Insights from Millennial consumers by Katharina Netek & Feline Carbone June 2020 MSc in International Marketing & Brand Management Supervisor: Ekaterini Drosou Examiner: Jayne Jönsson Abstract Title Drinking from the Fountain of Youth? - Brand rejuvenation in the case of heritage luxury fashion brands Seminar date June 4, 2020 Course BUSN39: Degree Project in Global Marketing Authors Feline Carbone and Katharina Netek Supervisor Ekaterini Drosou, Supervisor at Lund University Keywords Heritage brands; Luxury fashion brands; Brand rejuvenation; Millennials; Brand identity Thesis The aim of this study was to examine whether German Millennials are in purpose favor of rejuvenation practices of heritage luxury fashion brands or if such actions instead lead to negative associations, as they tend to ignore the heritage aspect. Methodology Following a relativist ontology, this research is guided by a social constructionist position, which allows a deep understanding of Millennials’ opinions. To explore their viewpoints on rejuvenation practices of heritage luxury fashion brands, we chose a qualitative method with an abductive approach. To analyze the data, a thematic approach has been adopted. Theory We used the concepts of brand identity and brand image, as well as the Consumer-Company Identification framework, to understand Millennials’ opinions on rejuvenation practices and illuminate how such attempts impact the brand image hold by the consumers. Empirical 18 semi-structured in-depth interviews with German Millennial consumers data were conducted. Conclusion We found that Millennials are generally in favor of rejuvenation practices of heritage luxury fashion brands (e.g. collaborations with youth brands).

Preface Preface The intersections of science and law occur from crime scene to crime lab to criminal prosecution and defense. Although detectives, forensic scientists, and attorneys may have different vocabularies and perspectives, from a cognitive perspective, they share a way of thinking that is essential to scientific knowledge. A good detective, a well-trained forensic analyst, and a seasoned attorney all exhibit “what-if” thinking. This kind of thinking in hypotheticals keeps a detective open-minded: it prevents a detective from ignoring or not collecting data that may result in exculpatory evidence.
