Week-long celebrations on the occasion of 150th Birthday of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi at ICAR-NIHSAD
A week-long celebrations to mark the occasion of 150th Birthday (2nd October 2020) of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi were held at ICAR-NIHSAD, Bhopal. The celebrations started on 26th Sep 2020 at NIHSAD, Bhopal with the remark of Director on Life & Principles of Gandhi and a painting competition was organized (online) for staff members and their children on “Gandhi’s life/Philosophy”. A total of 35 participants participated in painting competition with full enthusiasm. During the competition Director, NIHSAD motivated all the participants to keep their spirit high.
On 28th Sep 2020, a “Tree Plantation” program was organized in the campus with strict adherence to social distancing to follow the message of Mahatma Gandhi to save nature and keep cleanliness. During the program all the staff members were present and total 35 trees (Badam - 02, Aam-03, Jamun-03, Kathal - 12, Sitafal-15) were planted.
On 1st Oct., 2020, an online “SANGOSHTHI” was organized on “Gandhian Philosophy and life”. In this program all the participants expressed their learnings and inspiration from Gandhi’s life and also shared anecdotes related to social restructuring, time management, decision making process of his life.
On 2nd Oct 2020, floral tributes were paid to Mahathma Gandhi to mark his 150th birth anniversary (Gandhi Jayanti) by Dr. V. P. Singh, Director of the institute and staff members.
An online virtual mode celebration was conducted with all the staff members of ICAR- NIHSAD and participants shared their real life experiences influenced by Gandhi. An invited lecture on “Gandhian Philosophy on Agriculture, Swachhta, Women’s Empowerment, Gram Swaraj” was delivered by Dr. Tulsiram Dahayat, HOD, Dept of Economics, Govt Kamla Nehru Womens College, Damoh, (M.P). In his lecture, he highlighted how Gandhi’s personality turned to “Mahatma Gandhi” and Gandhiyan philosophy of “SWARAJ”. The results of “Painting Competition” was also announced on the occasion and Director announced that the certificates of appreciation will be sent to winning participants online. The weeklong celebrations concluded with the speech of Director in which he emphasized on inculcating the Gandhian principals in our life to become a better person.
