UCF Department of Theatre: http://theatre.cah.ucf.edu/ Fall 2012 Semester DEATHTRAP by Ira Levin Main Stage: August 23‐26 Clifford’s writing a masterpiece and his colleague Sydney is having a dry spell. What’s a playwright with writer’s block to do? Murder him, of course! Oh, that it were so simple. This play includes all of the classic murder mystery elements: murder, deceit, hidden meanings, and plot reversals, with just the right amount of comedy. STOP KISS by Diana Son Black Box: September 27‐29, October 10,12,14 The relationship between two friends is irrevocably altered with one kiss. GOOD BOYS AND TRUE by Roberto Aguirre‐Sacasa Black Box: October 4‐7,11,13 A scandalous video tape threatens to unravel the lives of students at a prestigious prep school. SIDE SHOW by Henry Krieger and Bill Russell Main Stage: October 25‐28, November 1‐4 A bright and moving musical based on the true story of sideshow freaks Violet and Daisy Hilton, conjoined twins who achieve fame but yearn for more. ZOMBIE TOWN Written by Tim Bauer Black Box: November 15‐18, November 29‐December 2 BRAAAINS! The zombies are coming and what have you done to prepare? We recommend working on strengthening your funny bone, because this mockumentary received rave reviews and a lot of laughs at last year’s Orlando Shakes PlayFest. UCF Art Gallery: http://gallery.cah.ucf.edu/ The State of the Children Thursday, September 6, 2012 ‐ Saturday, October 6, 2012 Campus Location: Visual Arts Building, Art Gallery (140A) The exhibit will include approximately 100 visual art and creative writing pieces done by children ages 8‐15 who participated in art and writing classes provided by ArtWorks. The children whose work will be featured in the exhibit are connected to or cared for by the following organizations: Great Oaks Village, Orlando Union Rescue Mission, Edgewood Children’s Ranch, The Howard Phillips Center for children and Families and the Foundation for Foster Children. The exhibition include a photojournalism display documenting what life is like for children in a homeless shelter and photos of children at various locations creating some of the art on display. This group exhibit presents diverse ideas through images created by these renowned artists and designers. The concert will feature pianists Kristi Born (Stetson) and Rose Grace (Bethune‐Cookman) along with percussionists Marja Kerney (Stetson) and Thad Anderson (UCF). The program will feature Jay Hunsberger and Robin Sisk ‐ tubas, Jeremiah Hemphill ‐ euphonium, and a variety of selections, including their new program for the 2012 U.S. Open Championships.
