KNIGHts NoteBooK • Junior DeLaina Sarden is coming off a tremendous two-way season that saw her record 269 kills and 127 combined blocks. That effort allowed her to be an AVCA All-America Honorable mention and Conference USA First Team player. Sarden was the only Knight to start every match and play in every set in 2012.

• Senior Angelica Crump has 1,094 career kills which ranks her seventh all-time in school history and third all-time in the rally- scoring era. Crump needs 403 kills to become the school’s all-time leader in kills for the rally-scoring era.

• The Knights are looking to reach the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2003 season. Under head coach Todd Dagenais, the Knights have improved tremendously. In the two years before Dagenais took over, UCF went a combined 1-31 in conference play. The Knights have recorded three-consecutive winning seasons.

tIGeRs NoteBooK • With just two starters returning from the 2012 squad, Memphis will rely heavily on youth from a roster that includes just five upperclassmen.

• The Tigers graduated three of their top four hitters from last season, two of whom went down in the top 10 in the school record books for career kills – Altrese Hawkins (1,806, 1st) and Mariya Jovanovic (1,285, 10th).

• Several returning Tigers placed themselves among the top in Conference USA in 2012. Libero Aleksandra Petronijevic finished the season third in the league in digs with 543 and eighth in service aces with 31. Petronijevic also posted two of the top four single-game dig marks in school history with 36 digs against UAB and 33 versus Marshall. Middle blocker Katie Meyer finished ninth in C-USA in total blocks with 97 in 2012. Middle blocker and right side hitter Lauren Hawkins returns as the team’s leader in hitting percentage from a season ago with a .248.

sCARLet KNIGHts NoteBooK • Rutgers will look to continue its success after having one of its best seasons in recent history in 2012. The Scarlet Knights won 18 matches, their most since the 2000 squad recorded 23, and notched their first winning season (18-12) since the 2004 team went 16-10.

• The Scarlet Knights return plenty of experience, bringing back 11 letterwinners. Rutgers also added depth, welcoming six newcomers.

• Senior Tracy Wright returns after posting a team-high 356 digs in an injury-shortened 2012 season, ranking seventh on Rutgers’ single-season digs list. Offensively, the Scarlet Knights bring back sophomore Alex Lassa, who led the team with 3.43 kills per set in 2012.
