Transfer to the hotel and time for rest. Day 2 Tbilisi At your City Tour, you will discover historic part of Tbilisi, located at the foot of Narikala Fortress (4th Century). It charms visitors with its romantic, narrow streets, beautiful facades and picturesque sites next to each other, including Metekhi Church, Synagogue, Sioni Cathedral, Bridge of Peace, Anchiskhati Church and famous sulphur bathhouses close to Tbilisi Mosque. Its modern part is no less impressive, especially Rustaveli Avenue with its exquisite, 19th century architecture, Opera and Theaters. Visit the treasury of Georgian museum (Golden artifacts from 1st millennium BC). Free time. Overnight in a hotel in Tbilisi. Day 3 Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Uplistsikhe – Tbilisi Drive to the old Georgian Capital Mtskheta (UNESCO World Heritage). Visit Jvari Monastery (6th century) on top of a high cliff with splendid panoramic views over the river valley. After visiting Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the spiritual Centre of the country, you drive on to ancient Cave Town Uplistsikhe from 1st millennium BC close to Gori, the Birthplace of Dictator Stalin. Uplistsikhe served as a residential and pagan rituals site. The functional aspects are still clearly visible in its remains, including ancient theater, hall of pagan rituals, wine cellars, etc. Caravans of the Old Silk road passed here by as well. Back to Tbilisi and Leisure Time. Day 4 Tbilisi– Bodbe – Signagi – Gurdjaani– Tsinandali – Telavi Drive to the eastern region of Kakheti, noted for its hospitality and its 8000 years of winemaking traditions. Visit the grave of St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia (4th century), in Bodbe Convent. Next to it is situated a beautiful town of Signagi, with a picturesque view on Alazani Valley. It is surrounded by defensive wall built in 18th century. Sightseeing walk in the town. Continue to drive to the village Gurjaani and get to know Georgian traditional way of wine-making in a farmer’s house. Lunch with home-made dishes. Afterwards you continue to drive to Tsinandali Duke´s Estate, before arrival in the small Village of Kisiskhevi. Visiting the Wine Cellar of Schuchmann Wines with explanations to the traditional Georgian- and modern European Wine-making methods including a Wine Tasting. Short drive to Telavi. Overnight in Telavi. Day 5 Telawi – Alawerdi – Gombori – Ananuri – Stepantsminda In Alaverdi Monastery Complex, you will visit St. George Church in the beautiful Alazani Valley. It is one of the most impressive Cathedrals of the 11th century, which were built in different regions of the country as a symbol of then unified Georgia. Via Gombori Pass, you drive to Ananuri Fortress at a water reservoir and then along the old Georgian military Highway to Ski- and Mountain Resort Gudauri in the Greater Caucasus Mountains. From here short but spectacular drive along the Cross Pass and Terek Gorge to Stepantsminda, to the Feet of Mt. Kazbek (5047m), known from ancient Greek legends. Overnight in Stepantsminda. Day 6 Stepantsminda – Gergeti – Tbilisi In the morning walk up to the Plateau with Gergeti Church at 2200m. Visit Gergeti Trinity Church and monastery complex and enjoy wonderful views over the snow covered Mountains around. (you can also take 4 WD cars to drive up to Gergeti Church for suppl. price 35 EUR per 4 WD car with 5 seats). Back to Tbilisi and Leisure Time. Overnight in Tbilisi. Day 7 Departure Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport according to your Flight times. .
