  • Concert Promotion and Production
CHAPTER SIXTEEN CONCERT PROMOTION AND PRODUCTION hile the monetization of recorded music has struggled mightily for years, it’s W a different story for live concerts. Although hardly immune to the vagaries of the greater economy, live music has an enormous economic advantage over recorded music. A fan must generally pay hard dollars to enjoy a live performance by a favored act, while an unauthorized shared download or a free streamdistribute puts little or nothing in the artist’s pocket. Music concerts generated $8.2 billion in surveyed 2017 ticket sales in North America, according to industry sources, not including the value of resale of tickets on the secondary market and the many acts that don’t tour nationally. Add to that sum ticket resales, corporateor sponsorships, and the economic spillover for supporting vendors and restaurants, and the vast economic footprint of live music becomes obvious. Besides generating substantial revenue from ticket sales, live concerts boost record sales. Live concerts also increase demand for artist-related licensed mer- chandise, such as T-shirts, posters, jewelry, keychains, and books. Concerts and the sale of ancillary products are so critical that major recording companies are reluctant to sign an act that doesn’t also have a compelling stage presence. And if the label does sign the act, there’s a goodpost, chance it’s part of a broad 360 deal that yields the label a healthy piece of the box office and licensed merchandise income, among other revenue streams. Three key players move and shake the concert promotion industry: the event promoter, the artist’s manager, and the tour-booking agent.

‘LOVE’S CHRISTMAS JOURNEY’ CAST BIOS SEAN ASTIN (Mayor William Wayne) – Sean Astin is one of Hollywood's most respected young actors with a distinctive list of projects and credits. Astin starred as beloved Sam Gamgee in the Academy Award®-winning "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy." The three films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide and have entered the history books of classic cinema. Astin has just recently signed up for Nickelodeon‟s re-launch of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” He will lend his voice to Raphael in the latest animated incarnation of the hugely successful franchise which premieres in fall 2012. Currently, he is lending his voice to Playhouse Disney‟s “Special Agent Oso.” Astin stars as a lovable, bumbling special agent-in-training who enlists viewers at home to help complete his missions. Premiering fall 2011, Astin heads an all star cast in “And They‟re Off,” an independent comedy about thoroughbred horseracing that also stars Kevin Nealon, Cheri Oteri and Martin Mull. Astin also has two other comedies in the can: “Stay Cool” about an older man‟s homecoming whose cast includes Winona Ryder, Chevy Chase, Hillary Duff and more, and “Demoted” in which Astin plays a mean-spirited prank whose victim becomes his boss. Adding to his seemingly boundless list of occupations, Astin released his acting memoir titled There and Back Again: An Actor's Tale. The book opened at #1 on the New York Times Best- seller list, putting him on the map as a true literary story-teller as well as the unabashed screen actor audiences fall in love with again and again.

  • The Event Safety Alliance Reopening Guide
The Event Safety Alliance Reopening Guide For Event Professionals During the COVID-19 Pandemic Edited by Steven A. Adelman ……………………………………………… Please share this Guide – We all want to reopen safely HOW TO USE THIS REOPENING GUIDE The Event Safety Alliance Reopening Guide is a collective work by event industry professionals to help our peers who are planning to reopen during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. This document contains no “best practices” that apply everywhere – coronavirus creates different challenges depending on countless factors, including the size of the event, its geographic location, the physical space, and the anticipated attendees, to name just a few. Instead, in the order one would plan an event, we have identified reasonably foreseeable health risks and suggested options to mitigate them. Because this is intended to be used by event professionals, we have tried to strike a balance between a simple checklist and an exhaustive consideration of all options. Our goal is to provide enough information so each user can make reasonable choices under their own circumstances. Some of this guidance is scalable, meaning it can be applied equally to events of any size. Where we had to choose, we focused on the circumstances of smaller, local events that we anticipate will reopen first. Consequently, this Reopening Guide emphasizes things people can do rather than things they can buy, since money is likely to be especially tight for smaller events and venues that have been closed and may only partially reopen. Our intention is to follow this initial release with guidance more applicable to tours and larger events, which face additional challenges that will keep them closed longer.
