‘We will never forget’ Taylor County business and community leaders gathered Wednesday to remember and pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The Perry-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce hosted the memorial ceremony, which was sponsored by Pakmail, WoodmenLife/Woodmen of the World and Red Bear Realty. Retired Air Force Col. Gene Carter, who was at the Pentagon when it came under attack, shared his experiences and memories of that day. WoodmenLife representative Kanut Khosla, also of Red Bear Realty, closed the ceremony by unveiling a framed “Flag of Honor” created from the names of all those who perished in the terrorist attacks. The flag was donated to the chamber for display. Members of the Taylor County High School Color Guard presided over the flag ceremony. Tommy Murrow, with Burns Funeral Home, manned the grill for a chicken lunch that followed. According to officials, the commission will consider hunting-related draft rule change proposals at its December 2019 meeting and provide guidance to staff on how to proceed. Commissioners will then consider the proposed rule changes for final adoption at their February 2020, meeting. If adopted, most rules will take effect July 1, 2020, and be in place for the 2020 hunting seasons. To take the survey, visit https://www.surveymonkey. com/r/2020-2021-ProposedChanges. Statewide rule proposals for the 2020-2021 season include: • Possession of Natural Deer Urine - When hunting, scouting, or otherwise attempting to attract wildlife, the use or possession of products containing natural deer urine or other biofluids is prohibited. “These rule proposals are intended to help minimize the risk of chronic wasting disease (CWD) being introduced into the state,” FWC officials said. “CWD, which has not been detected in Florida, is a contagious nervous system disease that is fatal All hunters, regardless of age or license requirement, must now log their harvested deer prior to to deer.
