1 I mitrornas skuggspel C H Martling försöker dra sig till minnes… Del I SPT:s redaktion har bett förre överhovpredikanten, doc. Carl Henrik Martling, Stockholm – tillika en av SPT:s fasta medarbetare – att teckna ned sina hågkomster kring turerna vid de tillsättningar där Martlings namn varit aktuellt. Artikeln publiceras i två delar. Biskopsvalet i Luleå 1965 Den 8 juli 1965, några dagar efter min fyrtioårsdag överraskades jag av att möta mitt eget dystra anlete på Svenska Dagbladets första sida. Bredvid mig log domprosten Stig Hellsten med hela sitt glada ansikte. Det handlade om biskopsvalet i Luleå efter Ivar Hylander. Tidningen utlovade med sedvanlig journalistisk dramatik, att det skulle bli en »hård match» mellan den »folkkyrklige» Hellsten och mig, som lanserades som »de högkyrkligas» kandidat. Dessa hade givit upp hoppet att få Gustaf Adolf Danell utnämnd sedan han åtta gånger hade refuserats av de politiska makthavarna. Tidningen meddelade, att jag skulle ha omkring 2/3 av stiftets präster bakom mig. En annan tidning hade rubriken »Rundkragar och lågkyrkliga slåss om Luleås biskopsstol». Situationen komplicerades av att det var första gången som den nya biskopsvalslagen tillämpades, vilket innebar att de prästerliga rösterna balanserades av lika många lekmannaröster, vilket gav tillfälle till stora överraskningar. Men för min del hade en tjugoårig biskopsvalscirkus tagit sin stillsamma början. Det visade sig snart, att SvD hade felbedömt opinionsläget under de nya förutsättningarna. Något »slagsmål» blev det aldrig. Provvalen och den allt livligare debatten förpassade mig ganska omgående till den s.k. »avbytarbänken», vilket jag var förberedd på och inte hade något emot. På förslaget uppfördes Stig Hellsten, Olaus Brännström och Per-Olof Sjögren, närmast följda av Karl-Gunnar Grape, mig själv och Ebbe Arvidsson. -

I gave this book 3 stars out of 5, balancing good Daak and bad Hulk. Paul Cornell is a British writer of science fiction and fantasy prose, comics and television. In the 26 th century the Earth Empire is in a death struggle with voracious Dalek forces yet still riven Doctor Who: Nemesis of the Daleks home-grown threats. Doctor Who fans in the s and s were a pretty devoted lot. It's a magnificent illustration of why I despise multi-part storytelling with a passion. Davros has activated the long-dormant Doctor Who: Nemesis of the Daleks army hidden there, converting them to the white and gold colour scheme applied to the Daleks he created on the planet Necros in Revelation of the Daleks. He plays second fiddle during most of the Doctor Who: Nemesis of the Daleks. Goodreads is the world's largest site for readers with over 50 million reviews. Emperor of the Daleks Assimilation 2. So three and half stars. Are you happy to accept all Doctor Who: Nemesis of the Daleks But I wish they'd put them in a more accurate chronological order. Other books in this series. Doctor Who Magazine — The longer pieces were better, especially 'Train Flight' and 'Nemesis'. It was interesting to see some elements similar to later TV plots - for instance the idea of a planetary library this time infested with bugs rather than the more scary Vashta Neradaa graveyard of the Tardises and a Time Lord killer - and in 'Who's That Girl' there appears to be a female Doctor. -

A Demonstration of the Big Five Personality Traits In Chapter 1 I proposed that we can use the Five Factor Model of personality to understand the Doctor’s personality and analyse to what extent the Doctor is more accurately described as the same person played by different actors, as opposed to a set of entirely different people with different personalities. I therefore collected some data to test the ‘same person’ hypothesis versus the ‘different people’ hypothesis. I should be clear that I did not approach this question entirely as I would if I were conducting scientific research, although I did use some scientific methods. Of the many things I would do differently if I were conducting scientific research, two are worth a special mention. First, I would have pre-registered my hypotheses in some format (most likely on the online Open Science Framework) prior to collecting data or testing my hypotheses. -

Georgist Journal / No.105 / Autumn 2006 Collecting Transit’s Earnings (and What to Do When There Aren’t Any) by Adam Kerman On Friday, July 21st, the 150th anniversary of Illinois Central suburban service was observed. The Illinois Central was founded by a land speculator to promote development of Cairo on the Ohio River, and by politicians, including Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas. Douglas, then a United States Senator, was instrumental in securing the federal land grant for the railroad, the first in the nation. The land grant was turned over to the state. Lincoln used his connections in Springfield to quash bids for rival railroads. The city of Chicago wanted a breakwater built to protect homes built too close to the lakefront on the south side. Because no one elsewhere benefited, its construction was politically unpopular. Solution? Force the railroad to enter the city on a right-of-way it did not want — submerged lands along the lakefront, far from industry. Douglas, who owned some of these submerged lands, sold right-of-way to the railroad and was rewarded with a seat on the board for his efforts in securing the land grant. Paul Cornell was another land speculator. He owned 300 acres in what is now the fine neighborhood of Hyde Park, home of the University of Chicago and Museum of Science and Industry. Then, it was badly located, well outside the city limits. He deeded right-of-way to the railroad in return for daily suburban service to his property. Significantly, the service was operated at a loss for several years and had to be subsidized by Cornell.
