However it took seven years and a lot of work before the first cooperatively owned offshore wind farm became a reality. Today the 40 MW wind farm with twenty modern 2 MW wind turbines developed by the Middelgrunden Wind Turbine Cooperative and Copenhagen Energy Wind is producing electricity for more than 40,000 households in Copenhagen. In 1996 the local association Copenhagen Environment and Energy Office took the initiative of forming a working group for placing turbines on the Middelgrunden shoal and a proposal with 27 turbines was presented to the public. At that time the Danish Energy Authority had mapped the Middelgrunden shoal as a potential site for wind development, but it was not given high priority by the civil servants and the power utility.

    PORVOO PRAYER DIARY 2021 The Porvoo Declaration commits the churches which have signed it ‘to share a common life’ and ‘to pray for and with one another’. An important way of doing this is to pray through the year for the Porvoo churches and their Dioceses. The Prayer Diary is a list of Porvoo Communion Dioceses or churches covering each Sunday of the year, mindful of the many calls upon compilers of intercessions, and the environmental and production costs of printing a more elaborate list. Those using the calendar are invited to choose one day each week on which they will pray for the Porvoo churches. It is hoped that individuals and parishes, cathedrals and religious orders will make use of the Calendar in their own cycle of prayer week by week. In addition to the churches which have approved the Porvoo Declaration, we continue to pray for churches with observer status. Observers attend all the meetings held under the Agreement. Copenhagen, December 2nd 1977. Coastal sections on the island Lzesø in the northern Kattegat, Denmark, expose many well-preserved sedimentary structures. These structures have been studied in order to gain information about the postglacial sedimentary history of the island. Furthermore, numerous beach ridges make it possible to reconstruct the size and shape of the island at all stages of its development. During early postglacial transgressions and alternating regressions the island was represented by a shoal. During the transgres­ sions the shoal was inhabited by the heart urchin Echinocardium cordatum, whereas it was inhabited by the lugworm Arenicola marina during regressions. Heart urchin-burrowed layers are found in three horizons with lugworm-burrowed beds below and above the upper heart urchin-burrowed horizon. The burrows of the two animals are found in different sedimentary facies, thus also suggesting different hydrographic conditions by means of physical sedimentary structures. In places the lugworm-burrowed horizons are characterized by irregular erosion surfaces. Similar structures are found today at the pseudo-tidal flats south of Læsø, where they are formed by partial erosion of algal mats. The alternation of different sedimentary structures including trace fossils and irregular erosion surfaces is thus believed to reflect postglacial transgressions and regressions.     Creating Holy People and People Places Holy on theCreating Periphery Creating Holy People and Places on the Periphery A Study of the Emergence of Cults of Native Saints in the Ecclesiastical Provinces of Lund and Uppsala from the Eleventh to the Thirteenth Centuries During the medieval period, the introduction of a new belief system brought profound societal change to Scandinavia. One of the elements of this new religion was the cult of saints. This thesis examines the emergence of new cults of saints native to the region that became the ecclesiastical provinces of Lund and Uppsala in the twelfth century. The study examines theearliest, extant evidence for these cults, in particular that found in liturgical fragments.     PORVOO PRAYER DIARY 2021 The Porvoo Declaration commits the churches which have signed it ‘to share a common life’ and ‘to pray for and with one another’. An important way of doing this is to pray through the year for the Porvoo churches and their Dioceses. The Prayer Diary is a list of Porvoo Communion Dioceses or churches covering each Sunday of the year, mindful of the many calls upon compilers of intercessions, and the environmental and production costs of printing a more elaborate list. Those using the calendar are invited to choose one day each week on which they will pray for the Porvoo churches. It is hoped that individuals and parishes, cathedrals and religious orders will make use of the Calendar in their own cycle of prayer week by week. In addition to the churches which have approved the Porvoo Declaration, we continue to pray for churches with observer status. Observers attend all the meetings held under the Agreement. The Calendar may be freely copied or emailed for wider circulation. The Prayer Diary is updated once a year. This paper presents a personal view of a number of Scandinavian projects which have sought to digitize medieval manuscript materials, focusing on their goals, the methods they employed, and how successful they were, and, where not wholly successful, trying to assess what went wrong or how they might have been better. SagaNet In 1997 The National and University Library of Iceland and the Fiske Icelandic Collection at Cornell University, with the association of the Árni Magnússon Institute in Iceland, began a cooperative project, with funding principally from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, known as SagaNet (http://sagnanet.is/ or http://saga.library.cornell.edu/). The National and University Library of Iceland (Landsbókasafn Íslands- Háskólabókasafn) houses the largest collection of Icelandic manuscripts and papers extant, some 15,000 items, almost entirely post-medieval. They also have a large collection of printed books, having been Iceland’s deposit library since the late 19th century. The Fiske Icelandic Collection at Cornell University Library is based on a collection of 8600 titles bequeathed in 1905 by Willard Fiske, a noted linguist and teacher who began collecting Icelandic books as a student in Sweden in the 1850s. The collection now comprises some 38,000 volumes, including some rare early printed books of which even the National Library of Iceland does not have copy. The early plans for collaboration between these two collections, which between them have virtually every publication printed in Iceland or in Icelandic elsewhere, focused not unnaturally on these printed books.

As well as the digital methods increasingly used to analyze such patterns. Using FMIS databases and LIDAR-elevation data it analyses the long, spread out lines of runestones visible in the landscape through GIS spatial- statistics analysis, as well as least cost path analysis, and simultaneously evaluates the combination of the runestones and said tools, as a method for studying Viking Age infrastructure. The statistical part of the analysis includes all of the Scanian runestones, and compares the organization grade (z-score and k-function) of the Scanian runestones to the organization grade of the Scanian milestones; the organization grade of the Gotland mile- and runestones are briefly discussed as a comparative material. The results of this analysis indicate a very high level of organized clustering within Scanian runestone context, one comparable to the level of organization we see among the Gotland Milestones.
