Coronavirus Updates

Due to current restrictions and the requirement for social distancing, Council meetings will not be held at their usual location. Meetings of the Council are taking place virtually and ‘attendance’ will be restricted to Members of the Council, relevant officers and any registered to speak ‘interested parties’ where appropriate. These meetings will be recorded for subsequent transmission via the Council’s public website.

Vale of Glamorgan Council current consultations

Current Consultations Our current consultations section includes the work of the Council as well as other public organisations that operate in the Vale.

Planning Application - Housing Development Upper Cosmeston Farm An outline application has been submitted by Welsh Government for a residental development, a primary school, community space and public open space on land at Upper Cosmeston Farm, Road, Penarth. Planning reference: 2020/01170/OUT The plans can be viewed through the Planning Register and comments are invited from any interested party. Planning Officers are available to discuss the proposals with members of the public throughout the normal working week by email, telephone or virtual meeting if necessary. Views can be submitted by emailing [email protected] and all will be considered as part of the normal planning process.

M4 Junction 34 to A48 Transport Improvements - WelTAG Stage Two Plus Improving Strategic Transport Encompassing Corridors from M4 Junction 34 to the A48 at Sycamore Cross Highway Link Study – WelTAG Stage Two Plus (Outline Business Case). This consultation will take place between Wednesday 30 September and Wednesday 23 December 2020.

Improvements to Barry's Green Infrastructure The Council has received funding from Welsh Government through the Targeted Regeneration Investment (TRI) Programme - Green Infrastructure, to undertake improvements to Barry’s Green Infrastructure.

New Housing Development - Requirements for School Places There are a number of new housing developments in the Vale. We are asking residents who are moving to new housing developments to let us know their requirements for school places. Please read the letter below and respond to the online survey.

Local matters • Problems with access to the recycling centre in Llandow have been raised many times over the last few years but a timescale for the relocation of the current site have now been provided: - Ongoing • Distribution the green food waste bags – a number of green foodwaste bags have been placed around the Llandow/Ewenny ward. Please contact me directly if you are having difficulty accessing the bags. • Road Traffic issues/road safety (rural roads policy called for) ongoing – various matters taken up with Mr Clogg – ongoing. • Ewenny/Corntown & Llandow – centre of excellence for sport – ongoing • Ewenny/Corntown – Meadows play area raised with the relevant Cabinet member • Treoes/Llangan - New Playground – plans for the play-space are moving forward – and work should begin in Jan. 2021. • Ewenny/Corntown – 30 mile an hour speed limit A48 Mr Clogg to attend next CC meeting • Ewenny/Corntown - Planning matters • Treoes/Llangan – public rights of way - ongoing • Treoes/Llangan – The issues raised regarding the Yr Efail Play Area have been taken up with legal and parks – ongoing • Treoes/Llangan – highways matters - ongoing • Colwinston - Signage for Sycamore Tree to be addressed with • Colwinston - 19th century stone mounting Block in the village outside Village Farm raised possibility of renovation with highways and planning teams • Colwinston – Twmpath - new feeder pillar has finally been replaced – and now requires painting • Colwinston – planning permission for new school Colwinston – highways and other issues were discussed at site visit with CC members, highways and the education department. Further meeting with Western Power, Alun Cairns MP and members of the CC. Meeting taking place with Highways in next couple of weeks- ongoing • Colwinston - Clapper Bridge. Work is nearly complete – highways matters raised and resolved. • Colwinston - coffin Style – matters with the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Conservation Officer – ongoing. • Llandow – run-off issue with fields in East View – ongoing • Llandow – Siteserve – some progress has been made in relation to fencing and other matters – ongoing • Llandow – weight restriction signage and road layout Nash Junction – ongoing • Fly-tipping – Llandow – reported and removed • Llandow – Sigingstone pre planning consultation, matters raised with local AM and others
