Animal Cruelty Task Force to the Rescue Suffering Ends for Hundreds of Abused Animals

When the Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT) found her, Matilda and her five puppies lay in a urine-soaked, feces-encrusted enclosure because they were helpless to move out to a cleaner

place. Their water was algae-infested; their food covered in mold. The rancid, ammonia odor from all of the animal areas in this breeding facility was overwhelming.

108 Rescued from Callous Cruelty Working with the county Sheriff’s Department, the Humane Society ACT brought 108 dogs out of deplorable conditions at a licensed breeding facility June 14 in Miller County. The animals included Cocker Spaniels, Poodles, Pekingese, Beagles, Shih Tzus, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and mixes of those breeds. An independent veterinarian recommended removing all adult breeding dogs and puppies on the property. Many dogs were underweight, with paws and legs encrusted with feces. Their fur was matted, their eyes infected, and their toe nails so long that they were nearly growing into the pads of their paws.
