SPEECHES AND STATEMENTS 113 4 NOTICE TO READERS This recapitulatory index to the 1970 numbers of the Bulletin of the European Communities will assist all who wish to keep abreast of th.e Communities' work. The many current activities of the various Community institutions are assessed each month in the numerous sections of the Bulletin, so that the fullest possible list is called for. A digest of Community action also appears in the annual General Report on the Activities of the European Communities. The Index to the 1970 Bulletin has separate sections for the main chapters: I. General (chapters on the major live issues of 1970) Il. Establishment and functioning of the common market Ill. Towards economic union IV. External relations V. Activities of the Institutions VI. Speeches and statements The Index covers the first two "parts" - "Features and Documents" and "Community Activities" - of the three into which the 1970 Bulletins were divided. For the sake of a clear layout and easy reference, the first part is designated as "A" and the second as "B". The reference system varies, depending on whether or not items have a section number.
