Another special cancel used on printed matter mail was the large letter HABANA cancel (see Fig. 2). The exam- ple shown herein is a typical use in which only a few of the letters are seen, in this case “ABA”. It would appear, based on its large size that this cancel was also meant to be used to can- cel large parcels. The next cancel shown (see Fig. 3), is perhaps the rarest one. This cancel is a boxed three-line “HABANA/ CLASE/CUBA”. In the example shown, the strike is smudged making it impossible to tell if the class of mail (2nd, 3rd, or 4th) was part of the stamp.
