1 1 Jefferson College Arnold Celebrates A Decade of Dedication 2007-2017

as it really been 10 years? Over 200 current, former, and prospective students; legislators; community members; faculty Hand staff; and Board of Trustees members joined in celebrating the 10th anniversary of Jefferson College Arnold in November.

The “Decade of Dedication” event was the College’s way of saying a heartfelt “thank you” to those who have given their support throughout the past decade. Over the past 10 years, more than 17,125 students have taken at least one class at the Arnold site.

The celebration included remarks, proclamations and congratulatory letters from U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, State Senator Paul Weiland, State Representative Dan Shaul, and Jefferson County Executive Ken Waller along with County Council members Jim Terry and Charles Groeteke. It also provided new and prospective students the opportunity to visit with faculty and staff to learn about the College’s numerous academic programs and support services, while registering for classes.

Student attendees were entered into a drawing for a book scholarship valued at up to $500, as over $2,000 worth of scholarships were awarded during the special event.

Construction of the $8 million, 40,000 square foot facility in 2007 was directly linked to recommendations from elected, civic, and educational leaders that reviewed higher education needs in northern Jefferson County. Among the building’s many features are electronic “SMART” classrooms, fully equipped science classrooms/labs, computer classrooms, an Academic Support Center, Learning Center/Assessment Center, a lecture hall/community meeting room, Enrollment Services, bookstore, student lounge, and an administrative office for Missouri Baptist University.

2 Continued... 2 In 2011, a $1.2 million 6,000 square foot construction/remodeling project added three general purpose classrooms equipped with SMART technology, a computer classroom, a science lab, and additional faculty/administrative offices.
