The entire study was conducted based on the available maps over the study area, in southern Sweden. The research was conducted in such a manner that it presents to what extent can land use changes affect biodiversity and climate change. The thesis is not focused on what are the drivers for land use conversions, but rather how could changes in land use be easier identified when working with a set of (historical) maps over the same area. Based on a very first decision, in terms of what land use data can be used in further studies by different research communities, a study was conducted as to determinate what are the available historical sources. A database was created, containing land use data, classified accordingly to modern international land cover classification, extracted from historical maps, during the time frame 1812 - 2006. Considering the needs in terms of land use conversion for the biodiversity and carbon modeling communities, analyzing tools were developed to provide a fast and efficient way to easily identify in which time frame drastic land use conversions occurred and how much the study area was affected. The tools were created as to ease the preliminary analysis on land use maps, to quickly identify changes based on statistics, rather than visual analysis. The historical land-use database was tested over a study area in southern Sweden. The tool developed is able to extract statistics from at least 2 maps simultaneous and express how much of land class there is on each map. The users can quickly retrieve statistics when the surfaces for each land class are available. iv Acknowledgements I would like to thank all my dear friends and family for their support throughout all my master program. To accommodate the rise in electric cars, governments and municipalities need to invest in charging infrastructure. This study was conducted in collaboration with Klippans municipality in southern Sweden. The aim is to offer an overview of options for charging infrastructure and payment models, to give municipal decision-makers a foundation of knowledge. The study examines which locations charging infrastructure tends to be placed according to the literature, and which kinds of payment methods exists on the market today. The study discusses how such options could be used in a small municipality and touches on both challenges and opportunities that could be relevant for Klippans municipality when deciding on charging infrastructure. The methods used were a literature review and a case study approach with interviews. The case study focuses on Klippan municipality and interviews were conducted with three officials working for the municipality.

However, there are laws, and then there are laws. For example, in the majority of cases in the commercial arena, the parties can be seen (and are deemed) to be of equal bargaining power, with equal access to information and financial resources. The courts then simply function as objective adjudicators as provided by the State. Cases can be won or lost, but the law moves forward (more or less linearly) as commercial parties have the resources to have pertinent issues tried and retried. In this respect, private commercial parties can be seen as determining, or at least, pushing, the boundaries of the law to the extent they frame the issues brought to the courts. Project MORPHEUS 2017-2019 www.morpheus-project.eu Summary In April 2017 (following a Government assignment from 2016), the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency issued a report concerning advanced wastewater treatment for the separation of drug remnants and other undesired substances where they write that: “The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency proposes that the Government have studies done of continued steps in a direction towards an introduction of advanced treatment beginning where the need is the greatest: Step 1: Investigate which wastewater treatment plants have the greatest need to introduce advanced treatment of drug remnants Step 2: Investigate what governance can lead to advanced treatment being introduced where the need is the greatest in a socioeconomically effective and suitable manner. The implemented LUSKA project shows how strategic collaboration between academia, municipalities and authorities is able to effectively map where measures primarily need to be applied to achieve a toxin-free environment in Sweden with living seas and water.
