This Design & Access Statement provides an overview of the scheme and should be read in association with Jenkins Design Services drawing package.

The proposed indoor sports training facility is situated within the existing site boundary of The University of , Warrington Campus, Crab Lane, Warrington, WA2 0DB

It is the intention of the application to seek approval for the erection of a new indoor sports training facility, adjacent to the existing on-site recreational facilities, gymnasium, sports hall, all weather pitch and changing facilities.

The proposed development complies with and has considered planning policies at the national, regional and local levels.

The proposed new indoor training facility represents the ongoing commitment to providing high quality facilities.

This purpose built facility will greatly benefit from its proximity to the resent built gymnasium, changing facilities, sports hall and all weather pitch.

The form of the new building very much follows the function requiring a large single span enclosure in which the sports pitch can be accommodated.

The palette of materials has been chosen to make the best use of natural daylight and to tone with the existing neighbouring structures.

The proposed structure has been designed and set out to suit the existing levelled site access. Pedestrian routes around and through the site have been maintained.

New areas of hardstanding will provide a maintenance/inspection strip along with links form the access/egress points joining the existing pedestrian walkway.

The building provides full level access and is therefore fully accessible to ambulant disabled and wheelchair users.

The building facade will be constructed from a steel frame construction with a 3m high profiled steel cladding coloured Goosewing Grey. This cladding runs along the four elevations and is punctured only by the main personnel entrance door, sectional door and emergency exit door. ______Jenkins Design Services Ltd: 2-4 Houghton Street Bury BL9 0TA Page 1 of 2

Above the cladding forming the high level walls and roof is a PVC fabric membrane coloured off white to maximise natural daylight and lighting.

Within each gable of the proposed structure will be ventilation louvers which help provide the necessary air changes within the facility.

The overall building height along the ridge will be a maximum of 12.2m allowing for a 250mm floor base and approximately 100mm building tolerance. The eaves height will be approximately 7.75m above external ground level.

The gross building footprint required to accommodate a suitably sized training pitch measures, to the outside of the profiled cladding, 30m in width by 45m in length. The building footprint therefore equates to an area of 1,350m².

The existing general lighting levels of the surrounding hard landscaping will be utilised as oppose to introduce additional which are not thought to be necessary.

Car parking together with disabled car parking facilities are to be used and adopted within the existing car park facilities opposite the gymnasium building adjacent to the proposed Indoor Sports Pitch Training Facility.
