MY ACHIEVEMENTS IN WORLD BADMINTON First All England Junior Badminton Champion. Worn at age of 17 years at the Wimbledon Squash and badminton Club beating Peter Waddell in straits games. Year 1956 Picture: CJ holding the All England Badminton Championship Singles trophy Won triple Open International Championships, at the Scottish, Wales, Irish, and French open. Won county Singles doubles and mixed doubles trophies. Year 1957-58 Winner of Danish Open Doubles with Erland Kops 1964. Denmark was then the second strongest badminton nation in the world. Malaysia was then the world Champions and had won the Thomas Cup three times in 1948, 1952, and 1956. Semi -Finalist of the Glasgow World Invitation Championship Mens' doubles February 1960. Finalist in Doubles All England Badminton Championship played in March 1965 ,at the Wembley Stadium, London. Badminton was then an amateur sport and recognized as this Championship was then recognised as the unofficial World Championship where the best palyers from the world would train and compete in it for three days. Partnering Erland Kops ,the Danish Champion, as the new Danish Champions we beat the well established Malaysian top Thomas Cup pair of Tan Aik Huang and Yew Cheng Hoe This Malaysian top world class pair, had earlier beaten in the quarter finals , the World Champions from Denmark Finn Kobbero and John Hammargaard Hansen. This Danish pair were then considered the legendary world champions and 'unbeatable' . Picture: Finals of the All England Mens' Open Doubles. In 1965 , I was invited back by Mr.Teh Jin Sooi , the Secretary of the Malaysian Badminton Association to prepare for the important defense of the Thomas Cup. Unfortunately , at that time , the Thomas Cup challenge rounds were six months from my Final Cambridge M. B. B. Chir exams . So I had to turn down the invitation . .
