 We are strongly encouraging all vendors to “drop & go”. Stock can be sold on “owner’s approval” - please ensure your contact details are on the entry form.  If in extreme cases (chiefly breeding stock) vendors feel strongly about staying to see their stock sold, only one person from a business may stay and they must leave as soon as their stock has been sold.  Everybody must enter via the main entrance and ensure they are wearing face coverings and have sanitised their hands.  We ask all people on site to adhere to strict social distancing measures reverting back to the 2m rule with a face covering.  No social visits can be permitted. Active buyers and sellers only, with just one representative per business allowed. No children allowed.

Prime Cattle to 237ppk and £1727 Barren Cows and Cull Bulls to 141ppk and £1332

Some exceptional prime cattle forward on Monday saw another strong trade for all on offer with best finished sorts reaching a top of 237ppk for a magnificent 690kg Limousin steer from Bottor Rock Farms, which realised a mighty £1631 although he was eclipsed by a solid looking 740kg Blonde steer off the same farm which racked up 234ppk and a massive £1727. Bottor Rock also saw further Blonde steers make 234ppk and Hereford bullocks to 206ppk and £1300. Roger Adams and Family, saw the best of another fine run of well- fed prime to 222ppk and £1289 for a smart 582kg Charolais heifer whilst Keith and Hilary Harvey of saw a grand 734kg Blonde bred steer draw 220ppk and £1611. Well-covered South steers from Basil and Steve Cane of Spriddlestone, fetched 220ppk and £1372 followed by shapely Limousin steers, firstly from Adrian Bowden of with on at 612kg rising to 215ppk and £1312 then one at 732kg from Les Warne of at 214ppk and £1562. Nicely finished Devon steers from Grenville Hockridge of came back at 197ppk and £1190 with the best of a very decent run of heavyweight Friesian steers from Paul and Joy Harvey of reaching 180ppk and £1324. Barren cow trade still a tremendous trade with a 794kg Charolais from K & T Pook of Galmpton topping that section at 141ppk and £1115 whilst an 804kg British Blue cow from Keith and Hilary Harvey reached 137ppk and £1097. A couple of tidy Longhorn barreners from John Cuming of both saw 137ppk with the better weighing in at 654kg and realising £892 followed by South Devon cows at 136ppk and £940 for HJG Lentern of . Dairy bred barren cows all looking a good trade with Swedish Reds to 131ppk and £835 for Stuart Griffin of and British Friesians making 127ppk and £852 for Gerald Beard of who also saw a 724kg Ayrshire reach 129ppk and £930. Cull bulls saw a vast 1088kg Simmental from Alan Brazier of return 123ppk and £1332.

1269 PRIME SPRING LAMBS Another super entry of sheep just short of 3000 in total comprised of 1269 spring lambs which were another 691 PRIME LAMBS fiery trade especially for the lighter weights and those best butchers overweights which topped the trade at £166 for a single Charollais from Anthony Elsworthy of Witheridge who also topped the market pence per kilo with sweet 39kgs at 369ppk or £144. A short entry of just under 400 cull sheep sold with a better feel to the trade as mule and other medium weight ewes were noticeably dearer than seen in a long time. Best crossbred ewes to £90 for a pair of Black Texels from Tracey Pike of Luppit, £89.50, £88.50 & £86 for penfuls of strong Suffolk crosses from Tom Yandle of Mamhead and £87 for similar from Tim Whitley of Widecombe. Others £75 to £84 depending on breed, condition and weight. Best mules as mentioned looking £6-£9 dearer on the week with two pens selling at £77.50 & £74.50 for Brad Simmons of Thorndon Cross, £76.50 for Ellen Yandle of Mamhead and a meated run from Sam Ursell of sold to £76, £74.50, £73 & £72.50. Hill ewes fewer in number and often £30 to £40 with no real strength present and very few lots sold under £25. Rams a touch stronger trade too with Brad Simmons also topping these with a weighty Suffolk selling at £99 followed by AJ Carter with a Texel at £92.50 and B Moseley of realised £89.
