KENNETT CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT Summary of School Board Meeting September 10, 2018 The following is a summary of the actions taken at the meeting of the Board of School Directors To review the full minutes and any attachments, contact the Superintendent’s Office at 610.444.6602 MODIFICATION OF The Board approved the modification of the July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2021 THE COLLECTIVE Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Kennett Consolidated BARGAINING School District and the Kennett Education Association. AGREEMENT Kennett Middle School New Positions a. Football Coach 70 Points b. Football Coach – Assistant 49 Points c. Football Coach – Assistant 49 Points PERSONNEL The Board approved the following personnel items as well as supplemental contracts for the 2018-2019 school year: Resignations Elizabeth Cooper, FLES, New Garden Elementary, Greenwood Elementary, and Mary D. Lang K Center, resigning effective September 26, 2018. Anna McLaughlin, special education, Kennett Middle School, resigning effective July 12, 2018. Trista Todd, supervisor of special education, District Office, resigning effective August 15, 2018. Molly Topp, school counselor, New Garden Elementary, resigning effective July 13, 2018. Requests for Leave of Absence Samantha Budelman, kindergarten, Mary D. Lang Kindergarten Center, an extension of her childrearing leave through November 25, 2018, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and applicable School Board Policy. Board Meeting Summary - September 10, 2018 Page 3 of 5 PROFESSIONAL The following temporary professional employees are certified as EMPLOYEE STATUS satisfactory by the District Superintendent for professional employee (INFORMATION) status according to the provisions of the Public School Code: Bonacquisti, Jillian Chu, Toby Evans, Erin Garvin, Rachel Keyser, Hannah Lentz, Joseph Malkasian, Andrew McCarthy, Devon Moore, Jacob Morihara, Heather Nisenfeld, Jacob Panichelli, Keely Williams, Lauren SUPERVISOR OF The Board approved the appointment of Jo Stirling as the Supervisor of SPECIAL EDUCATION Special Education beginning August 27, 2018. ADMINISTRATIVE The Board approved the creation of a second Supervisor of Special POSITION Education position in accordance with School Board Policy 301, Creating a Position. SUPERVISOR OF The Board approved the appointment of Michael Ubbens as the SPECIAL EDUCATION Supervisor of Special Education beginning November 12, 2018. INDEPENDENT The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated CONTRACTOR School District and Stacey Zelesnick for dental hygienist services during the term of the agreement, August 20, 2018, through June 30, 2019, at the rate of $40.00 an hour, not to exceed $11,000. INDEPENDENT The Board approved the contract between the Kennett Consolidated CONTRACTOR School District and Lucy Angomas for bilingual services during the term of the agreement, September 10, 2018, through June 30, 2019, at the rate of $75 an hour, not to exceed $15,000. STUDENT CLUBS The Board approved the Thumbs Up, Fun’s Up! Club, the Ultimate Frisbee Club, and the After-The-Bell Club as extracurricular activities in accordance with Board Policy 122, Extracurricular Activities. SETTLEMENT The District, through legal counsel, negotiated a Settlement Agreement AGREEMENT with the parents of a student in order to avoid continued and/or potential disputes or litigation. This Agreement will settle any disputed issues of fact and law but still does not constitute an admission of fault or liability by either party. The parties have agreed to keep the terms of the Agreement in strictest confidence. SCHOOL BOARD The Board accepted the resignation of Mark Bowden, effective upon his MEMBER ceasing to be a resident of Kennett Borough. RESIGNATION BOARD UNEXPIRED The Board approved that the vacancy on the Board of School Directors be TERM FULFILLMENT advertised and applications be accepted until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. Interviews will be held at a public meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018 (prior to the Finance Committee meeting) and, if necessary, on Monday, October 8, 2018 (prior to the Regular meeting); and the successful candidate will be appointed at the Regular meeting of October 8, 2018.
