Ten years ago Ian Metcalf moved to the islands with no tools or land

Ian slowly took on and subletted abandoned land and bought tools and machinery along the way. He now farms seventeen small fields spread across St Martin’s and grows vegetables, salads, fruit, herbs and flowers. From parsnips and artichokes to cucumbers, the array of vegetables are sold from his shop in Middletown and are also available from some outlets on St Mary’s.
