Holiday Music The lyrics below are here to help you follow along and sing with us during services. The accompanying services for each song are noted below.

Come, Come, Whoever You Are – Noah Aronson (precedes Barechu on Rosh Hashanah, Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur)

Come, come, whoever you are, come, come (x4) Wanderer, worshiper, lover of healing, it doesn’t matter, ours is not a caravan of despair

Come, come, whoever you are, come, come (x4) Come even if you have broken your vow a thousand times, Come even if you’ve been waiting for a miracle to come

Come, come, whoever you are, come, come (x4) Just come, come, whoever you are, come Tshuva, tshuva, tshuva tshuva, yet again come(return again)

Who By Fire – Leonard Cohen (p. 143, Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur musaf) Who by fire, who by water Who in the sunshine, who in the night time Who by high ordeal, who by common trial Who in your merry merry month of may Who by very slow decay And who shall I say is calling? B'rosh hashana yikkateivun, uv’yom tzom kippur yeichatemun (x2) And who by brave assent, who by accident Who in solitude, who in this mirror Who by his lady's command, who by his own hand Who in mortal chains, who in power And who shall I say is calling? B'rosh hashana yikkateivun, uv’yom tzom kippur yeichatemun (x2)

Kinder – Copper Wimmin (Kol Nidre) I've decided to be happy I've decided to be glad I've decided to be grateful For all I ever had

I've decided to let go Of all this pain tonight I've decided to let go Of all these demons inside

I know...I am blessed

I know...all I ever wanted was this I know...I don't need more I've got... what I came for

I've decided to be open To that little voice inside Telling me I'm beautiful It's okay to be alive

I've decided to be kinder To myself when I feel sad I've decided to be grateful For all I ever had

I know...I am blessed I know...all I ever wanted was this I know...I don't need more I've got... what I came for

Hashiveini – Micah Shapiro (Rosh Hashanah p.140 & Yom Kippur p.312) Hashiveini, ve’ashuva (x2) Chadesh Chadesh, chadesh, yameinu, kekedem (x2) Turn me, and I will return. Renew our days as days of old.

Shine (Yivarech’cha) – Naomi Less (Family Blessing, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) May you be like our ancient brothers, and live with peace and kindness May you be like our ancient mothers, live bravely and be strong, May you be most importantly like you

Yivarech’cha Adonai v’yishmerecha, ya’er Adonai panav eilecha vichuneka, yisa Adonai panav eilecha, v’yasem lecha shalom

Yivarech’cha (shine through you) Yivarech’cha (keep safe and true) And help you to feel whole Yivarech’cha (shine through you) Yivarech’cha (keep safe and true) v’yasem lecha shalom

2019 Homelessness Series: Open Sukkah, Oct. 17 5:30–7:30 pm Southside Faith Communities Interfaith Program, Sukkah Together, the congregations of Southside are making homelessness their theme this year over three events. Join us as we get to know each other better and learn about the work Five Points is doing in response to the increasingly urgent issue of homelessness. This program opens the synagogue's sukkah to the entire community during the festival Sukkot. It focuses on Jewish teachings about hospitality and homelessness, drawing on the model of the Sukkah, a temporary booth set up outdoors that serves as a space for hosting neighbors and encourages us to offer hospitality to those without a home. We will explore the differences between hospitality and friendship that enable better neighborliness. Learn more about the other events in the series online at www.templebeth-el.net or check out the Facebook events.

Erev Simchat Torah Block Party: Oct. 21 Enjoy pizza and community time at 5:45 pm at Temple Beth-El.
