Get the playlist of artists from Viseu and surrounding areas by scanning the code. Mia Tome Daughter of a Viseense father and a mother originally from the Alto Douro, Mia Tomé lived part of her childhood in Viseu. Took her first theater classes at Companhia Paulo Ribeiro in Viseu, and thanks to that she had the opportunity to get to know Teatro Viriato better. In 2016, she won the awards for best actress with the film “Symptom of Absence” by Carlos Melim, at the Clap and Shortcutz Film Festival. In Viseu she highlights Mata do Fontelo as one of the most relaxing places in the city, the auditorium Mirita Casimiro, which holds one of the most beautiful memories of her childhood (her first ballet shows), Rua Direita where you can, and should, get inspiration, and Rossio for walks and endless conversations while crossing the city park.

CV/CVMA NEWSLETTER INDEX Author Indexes Two author indexes appeared in the Newsletter, as follows. 25 (pp. 12Ŕ13): ‘Author Index to News Letters Nos 1Ŕ25’ 35/36 (pp. 27Ŕ30): ‘author index to news letters nos. 25-35/36’ These consisted in the main of the authors of the works abstracted in the numbered abstracts; these authors are now available and searchable in the separate concordance of abstracts. Although Roy Newton acted as Editor and compiler of the Newsletter up to and including issue 26, he often included material submitted by others. From issue 27 onwards however, articles with named authors appeared in the Newsletter, and there are separate entries in the index for references to individuals and articles by those individuals (see for example Ferrazzini, J. C.). General Indexes Five general indexes appeared in the Newsletter, as follows. 10 (pp. 5Ŕ6): ‘Cumulative Index to News Letters 1Ŕ10’ 15 (pp. 16Ŕ18): ‘Cumulative Index to News Letters 1Ŕ15’ 20 (pp. 12Ŕ15): ‘Index to News Letters 11Ŕ20’ 25 (pp. 14Ŕ18): ‘Index to News Letters Nos 16Ŕ25’ 35/36 (pp. 30Ŕ32): ‘subject index to news letters nos 25-35/36’ There are variations in the ways in which bibliographic items are presented throughout the Newsletter, which differ again from the methods used in the Occasional Papers. Some obvious errors in the citations have been corrected here, but the author and title listings given here should not be used as a guide to citation in future work. References in the Index Up to and including issue 39/40, references are made to sections of individual Newsletters, as with the older indexes of the Newsletter, so 15 (1.2) is section 1.2 in Newsletter 15; occasionally a page number is added for clarification, of a section is particularly long.

  • Portuguese Vaulting Systems at the Dawn of the Early Modern Period
Proceedings of the Third International Congress on Construction History, Cottbus, May 2009 Portuguese Vaulting Systems at the Dawn of the Early Modern Period. Between Tradition and Innovation Soraya Genin Superior Institute for Work and Business Studies, Lisbon, Portugal Krista De Jonge Catholic University of Leuven, Leuven, Belgium Jose Carlos Palacios Gonzalo Polytechnic University of Madrid, Madrid, Spain ABSTRACT: The Portuguese hall churches of the so-called Manueline Period (end of the fifteenth and begin ning of the sixteenth century) are generally seen as straddling two contradictory stylistic phenomena. While their formal repertory announces the Renaissance, their conception and execution follow the geometrical and technical principles used by the gothic builders. Nave and aisles are unified spatially, a common goal in all Europe at the time. In the transversal section unification of the vaults is achieved through a continuous curved profile from side wall to side wall. In Portuguese historiography this is seen as characteristic of Joao de Castilho with the so-called 'barrel vault' of the Hieronymile church at Belem as his masterpiece. The attribution is a polemic issue, but nonetheless relevant Our invesligafion has indeed revealed additional examples that certainly deserve a global presentation considering the pertinence of the author issue and of its broader Euro pean context INTRODUCTION Mario Tavares Chico was the first to stress the spatial qualities of Manueline church architecture in 1954. The author appreciated the spatial unify of the Hieronymite church at Belem {Jer6nimos) and of the churches at Freixo de Espada a Cinla and Arronches, comparing them favourably with olher hall churches in Europe.

  • Sob O Mecenato De D. Miguel Da Silva, Vasco Fernandes Transformou a Catedral De Viseu Na “Secunda Roma” *
Abstract Over the years, the five great paintings by Vasco Fernandes for the chapels of the Viseu Cathedral have been the object of services strictly in the field of format and iconographical analysis. However, in our opinion, what was lacking was an icono- logical interpretation, which is the aim of our proposal. We will base our interpreta- tion on analogous situations and examples, aiming to discover the single connecti- vity thread which links the five “Pale” painted by Vasco Fernandes, under the patronage of D. Miguel da Silva. 1.
