HABEN kann. in dem fall... storm, ich bin‘s! logan? wir versuchen dich seit-- NEW ATTILAN kurz darauf hör zu! in unserem die maschine flugzeug! ist ZERSTÖRT. und sie haben forge! zerstört?! erik, bitte! wer hat was soll das getan? das heissen, logan?! alle bedeutenden inhumans wurden gefangen. es ist keiner mehr übrig. irrtum. es waren zwei von den neuen. nannten kehr zum sich iso und inferno. ich hab es sammelpunkt sie haben uns über- vergeigt, zurück, logan. rascht. wir-- 'ro. wir finden eine lösung... “... wir müssen.” LIMBO wo sind wir, naja? haben die mutanten uns getötet? ist das... ... die hölle? weiss nicht, flint. sieht zumin- dest nach hölle aus. mom und dad sagten immer, ich ende da mal. es ist nicht die hölle. ich war hier schon. man eher nicht. nennt es limbo. in der hölle gibt es tore, durch die okay. sehr wir hinausgelangen beruhigend, könnten. aber im FACKEL. limbo... ... gibt es nichts. die x-men aus dem haben new attilan limbo gibt es besetzt und werden keinen fluchtweg. sich jetzt zweifellos trotzdem... der terrigen-wolke zuwenden. ... werden wir entkom- men. weder black bolt noch karnak sind hier. vielleicht sind sie noch auf freiem fuss. sehr unwahrscheinlich. das war ein koordinierter angriff. wären die beiden nicht auch in ihren händen, hätten sie es nie gewagt, new attilan zu überfallen. nein, die mutanten haben an alles gedacht. sie dachten nicht an euch. nicht an an alles, uns? gorgon..

ABSTRACT The figure of the cyborg, or more latterly, the posthuman body has been an increasingly familiar presence in a number of academic disciplines. The majority of such studies have focused on popular culture, particularly the depiction of the posthuman in science-fiction, fantasy and horror. To date however, few studies have focused on the posthuman and the comic book superhero, despite their evident corporeality, and none have questioned comics’ readers about their responses to the posthuman body. This thesis presents a cultural history of the posthuman body in superhero comics along with the findings from twenty-five, two-hour interviews with readers. By way of literature reviews this thesis first provides a new typography of the posthuman, presenting it not as a stable bounded subject but as what Deleuze and Guattari (1987) describe as a ‘rhizome’. Within the rhizome of the posthuman body are several discursive plateaus that this thesis names Superhumanism (the representation of posthuman bodies in popular culture), Post/Humanism (a critical-theoretical stance that questions the assumptions of Humanism) and Transhumanism (the philosophy and practice of human enhancement with technology).

The Underused Power of Jury Nullification Dave Hall Jury nullification is an inherent and powerful prerogative of the American jury, yet it is rarely used. This brief article defends the practice of jury nullification as an important lever for obtaining justice in our legal system, arguing that juries ought to exercise their power to nullify more frequently than they do. In mounting this defense, this article first outlines the history of nullification before presenting some of the traditional justifications for its use. It then considers a new model for justifying nullification proposed by Professor Paul D. Butler. In its last two sections, this article examines—and finds inadequate—some of the main criticisms levied against juries’ power to nullify, before finally offering a simple and elegant formulation for determining when nullification is proper.
