Il se consacre entièrement à la musique de Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), compositeur allemand influencé par le jazz et le cabaret, de parents juifs, proche du parti communiste dans les années 1920, réfugié aux Etats-Unis pendant le nazisme puis contraint, durant la guerre froide, à rentrer dans son pays, à l'Est. Jazz post-free où se mêlent émotion et humour, du protest jazz, comme celui de Charlie Haden ou de Carla Bley. En guest à la guitare solo, Adrien Moignard nous propose un beau phrasé clair et précis conjuguant virtuosité, style et élégance au service de chorus inventifs intégrant au style d’autres influences. Si l’on sent que leurs morceaux fonctionnent à plein en live, le disque nous emporte peu à peu entre bombes dansantes et suaves, mélopées envoûtantes et langoureuses. Ce collectif parisien réussit à rendre hommage aux grands anciens (Fela, Astatke…), tout en écrivant une musique parfaitement personnelle et actuelle. C'est la BO imaginaire du livre Dark is the sun de Philip Jose Farmer. Plusieurs instruments atypiques sont utilisés comme le clavecin, le carillon tubulaire ou les choeurs. Avec des influences variées comme Bruno Nicolai, Michel Legrand, Serge Gainsbourg, Michael Garrick, Keith Mansfield et Alan Hawkshaw, le résultat est riche et saisissant. > Accéder à la notice Live au tracteur / Raphaël Imbert - Zig Zag Teritoires, 2011 1.3 IMB 62 Quatuor – France – Vibraphone - Saxophone Après son N.Y Project remarqué par la presse en 2009, Raphaël Imbert renouvelle son inspiration dans la tradition afro-américaine et ses expériences personnelles fondées sur l’échange et son enracinement provençal. Révélé au sein du trio E.S.T, le batteur orphelin a décidé aujourd’hui de tracer son propre chemin. Il est accompagné par trois musiciens polyvalents - entre électrique et acoustique - pour créer une musique énergique et voluptueuse. Cet enregistrement est aussi l’occasion de rendre hommage à son ami d’enfance Esbjörn Svensson, avec la complicité attendue de Dan Berglund et la participation amicale de Pat Metheny, sur le morceau Ballad for E situé au coeur de l’album. > Accéder à la notice Tuck in with... / The Natural Yogurt Band - Now-Again Records, 2010 1.3 NAT 83 Acid Jazz - Grande-Bretagne Avec un nom étrange, une musique qui semble tout droit tirée de l'ère dorée des 60 et 70s, un unique album sorti par Jazzman mais rapidement épuisé puis réédité par Now-Again en édition limitée dans un packaging fantastique, le groupe suscite l'adoration. A 12 ans, elle joue pour la première fois en public avec un orchestre de prestige. En 1999, elle s'inscrit à la prestigieuse école de musique de Berklee à Boston.

    Adventures in Film Music Redux - Composer Profiles ADVENTURES IN FILM MUSIC REDUX COMPOSER PROFILES A. R. RAHMAN Elizabeth: The Golden Age A.R. Rahman, in full Allah Rakha Rahman, original name A.S. Dileep Kumar, (born January 6, 1966, Madras [now Chennai], India), Indian composer whose extensive body of work for film and stage earned him the nickname “the Mozart of Madras.” Rahman continued his work for the screen, scoring films for Bollywood and, increasingly, Hollywood. He contributed a song to the soundtrack of Spike Lee’s Inside Man (2006) and co- wrote the score for Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007). However, his true breakthrough to Western audiences came with Danny Boyle’s rags-to-riches saga Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Rahman’s score, which captured the frenzied pace of life in Mumbai’s underclass, dominated the awards circuit in 2009. He collected a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Award for best music as well as a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for best score. He also won the Academy Award for best song for “Jai Ho,” a Latin-infused dance track that accompanied the film’s closing Bollywood-style dance number. Rahman’s streak continued at the Grammy Awards in 2010, where he collected the prize for best soundtrack and “Jai Ho” was again honoured as best song appearing on a soundtrack. Rahman’s later notable scores included those for the films 127 Hours (2010)—for which he received another Academy Award nomination—and the Hindi-language movies Rockstar (2011), Raanjhanaa (2013), Highway (2014), and Beyond the Clouds (2017).
