Laura Marling - Song for Our Daughter Episode 184
Song Exploder Laura Marling - Song For Our Daughter Episode 184 Hrishikesh: You’re listening to Song Exploder, where musicians take apart their songs and piece by piece tell the story of how they were made. My name is Hrishikesh Hirway. (“Song for Our Daughter” by LAURA MARLING) Hrishikesh: Before we start, I want to mention that, in this episode, there’s some discussions of themes that might be difficult for some: sexual harassment and assault, as well as a mention of rape and suicide. Please use your best discretion. Laura Marling is a singer and songwriter from London. She won the Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist - she’s been nominated five times for that, along with the Mercury Prize, and the Grammy for Best Folk Album. Since 2008, she’s released seven albums. The most recent is called Song for Our Daughter. It’s also the name of the song that she takes apart in this episode. I spoke to Laura while she was in her home studio in London. (“Song for Our Daughter” by LAURA MARLING) Laura: My name is Laura Marling. (Music fades out) Laura: This is the longest I've ever taken to write a record. You know, I started very young. I put out my first album when I was 17, and I'm now 30. When I was young, in a really wonderful way, and I think everybody experiences this when they're young, you're kind of a functioning narcissist [laughter], in that you have this experience of the world, in which you are the central character. -
Natural Born Killers
NATURAL BORN KILLERS by Quentin Tarantino November 1990 Revised Third Draft FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY FADE IN: INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY A coffee shop somewhere in New Mexico. MICKEY KNOX, his back turned TO us, is sitting at the counter finishing a meal. We hear the PING... BANG... of a PINBALL MACHINE being played O.S. MABEL, a waitress, comes over and fills Mickey's coffee cup. MICKEY What kind of pies do you have? MABEL Apple, pecan, cherry, and key lime. MICKEY Which do you recommend? MABEL Well, the key lime is great, but it's an acquired taste. MICKEY I haven't had key lime pie in ten years. MABEL When ya had it, did ya like it? MICKEY No, but that don't mean much. I was a completely different person ten years ago. Let's give key lime a day in court. And a large glass of milk. Mabel turns to her right. MABEL (to someone O.S.) Should I make that two pieces? CAMERA PULLS BACK and we see for the first time MALLORY KNOX, Mickey's wife, sitting on a counter stool next to him. Her back is TO the CAMERA as well. MALLORY Nada, Rosey. MABEL (annoyed) My name's not Rosey. (points at nametag) It's Mabel. (CONTINUED) 2. CONTINUED: Mabel EXITS FRAME. MALLORY Whatever. Mallory hops from the stool, walks over and grabs the jar next to the cash register, then dumping out the coins on the counter, she selects a quarter. MABEL Hey, what the hell do you think you're doin'? Mallory saunters past the cowboy playing pinball. -

The 33-year-old singer, whose hit “Lmaallem” has been viewed more than 660 million times on YouTube, was detained on Tuesday over an alleged incident in a Saint-Tropez hotel. Lamjarred, who denies the allegations, had al- ready faced rape accusations in October 2016 and April 2017. So- cial media activists have started campaigning to silence Lamjarred under the hashtags #masaktach (“we will not be silenced”) and #LamjarredOut. Arabic-language website Hesspress on Wednesday posted a caricature of the singer in vanishing black ink against a Parisian backdrop next to the slogan “Salina, salina,” (it’s over, it’s over), the title of one of his love songs. The station Radio 2M said on Twitter that it had stopped promoting Lamjarred’s songs over the latest rape charge, while Hit Radio said it would poll its listeners Saad Lamjarred to decide on whether to keep his music off the air. — AFP In this file photo the jacket worn by Harrison Ford’s character Newcomer Shah battles with Han Solo in the ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ film is on Thai fans nabbed for show at the Imax in central London and will be auctioned. — AFP rock big guns Arctic Monkeys he jacket worn by loveable Star Wars scoundrel Han sneaking into airport to Solo in “The Empire Strikes Back” as well as Indiana TJones’s signature fedora are among rare movie mem- for Mercury Prize orabilia going under the hammer in London yesterday. -

There are few cross-sectional studies that have included questions regarding SGM status. Using national surveillance data from the 2016 BRFSS, risk behavior participation and poor mental health identification will be compared to SGM status, with particular attention paid to women who have sex with women (WSW) in order to provide a more widespread and complete image of healthcare concerns for all SGM individuals. -
Lily Allen Hits Back at 'Hard out Here' Racism Claims
News New Music Culture Features Lists The Archives SEARCH Share < br />this article: Email Share Tweet Reddit News \ Lily Allen Hits Back at ‘Hard Out Here’ Racism Claims "The video is meant to be a lighthearted satirical video that deals with objectification of women" Marc Hogan // November 13, 2013 Share < br />this article: Email Share Tweet Reddit In August 2012, Lily Allen tweeted a comment that led to a flurry of responses calling her racist. Here’s what she wrote: “I hate it when black cab drivers spend the entire journey on the phone. I WANTED A CHAT !” Later, she added, “When I said ‘black cab drivers’ I was referring to the colour of the cabs rather than the drivers themselves,OBVIOUSLY. *rolls eyes*” See, a “black cab” is a thing people in Britain and Europe call their taxis. Point is, the Internet is quick to call famous people and other trending topics racist, sometimes on remarkably shaky ground. Allen has now come under fire for alleged racism again in her brand-new “Hard Out Here” video, and she again took to Twitter to address the criticisms — which, while less blatantly false than last time, are still tenuous at best. In an extended tweet titled “Privilege, Superiority, and Misconceptions,” Allen said she requested no specific ethnicities for the clip. “The video is meant to be a lighthearted satirical video that deals with objectification of women within modern pop culture,” she wrote. “It has nothing to do with race, at all.” She explained that despite two weeks of rehearsing her own twerk, she was unable to master the move, and added that the reason she was wearing more clothes than her dancers was her own insecurity.
