Uacon Lake is a natural lake approximately 1.9 square kilometers (190 hectares) in area strategically located in the northern part of Zambales province along the Olongapo-Bugallon Highway 70 kilometers north of Olongapo and Subic Special Economic Zone. It is less that a kilometer from the coastline of Zambales and connected by a navigable river to China Sea towards the West, and about 5 kilometers from the foot of Zambales mountains to the East. The surrounding land around the lake is generally flat and rural with extensive areas for livelihood projects including reforestation of the mountain. The eastern shore of the lake abounds in mangrove and the lake offers opportunities for aqua-culture and water sports. The West Philippine Sea side is a fish sanctuary with several islands for scuba diving and sailing. The shores of Zambales abounds in beautiful beaches with resort facilities for local tourists. The proposed Uacon Lake Development Project opens the area to both international and domestic tourism with the Iba Domestic Airport, the Subic International Airport and the Clark International Airport as entry points which are within 100 kilometer-radius from Uacon. The Olongapo-Bugallon Highway is a first class thoroughfare that connects Uacon to the provinces North, South and East of Zambales (Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga and Bataan provinces).
