This is basically one-half of an AC/DC power supply circuit, consisting of a line power plug, on/off switch, fuse, indicator lamp, and a step-down transformer. The reason this project idea is strongly recommended is that it may serve as the basis for the recommended power supply project in the next course (ELTR120 – Semiconductors 1). If you build the AC section now, you will not have to re-build an enclosure or any of the line-power circuitry later! Note that the first lab (step-down transformer circuit) may serve as a prototype for this project with just a few additional components. -

However, this scheme has two major issues: A sector-flux droop at low speed and poor torque dynamic performance. To improve the performance of this control method, interleaving triangular carriers are used to replace the single carrier in the CFTR controller to increase the duty voltage cycles and reduce the flux droop. However, this method causes an increase in the motor torque ripple. Hence, in this work, different discrete steps when generating the interleaving carriers in CFTR-DTC of an induction machine are compared. The comparison involves the investigation of the torque dynamic performance and torque and stator flux ripples. The effectiveness of the proposed CFTR-DTC with various discrete interleaving-carriers is validated through simulation and experimental results. Introduction There are two well-established control strategies for high-performance motor drives: Field orientation control (FOC) and direct torque control (DTC) [1–3]. The FOC method has received wide acceptance in industry [4]. Nevertheless, it is complex because of the requirement for two proportional-integral (PI) regulators, space-vector modulation (SVM), and frame transformation, which also needs the installation of a high-resolution speed encoder. -

In this aspect, India is lagging, mostly due to economical and institutional constraints. It is the largest importer of arms and ammunitions in the world. However, there is still a need for a failsafe defense system. This paper is a step towards addressing this shortcoming of the Indian military. However, this is not the first prototypal weapons system in the world. The U.S. Defense Strategic Defense Initiative put into development the technology of a similar type using a particle beam to be used as a weapon in outer space as part of the Beam Experiments Aboard Rocket (BEAR) project. This is the next step to build a weapon system that rises above ammunition constraint and environmental hazard. The basic premise of a Tesla Gun involves static discharge at a very high voltage. There are three main elements of the system. The first is the voltage step up. The next is the resonant circuit and the final element is the targeting system. Electro deposition is the process of coating a thin layer of one metal on top of different metal to modify its surface properties. It is done to achieve the desire electrical and corrosion resistance, reduce wear &friction, improve heat tolerance and for decoration. Electroplating Basics Fig-1. Electrochemical Plating Figure- 1, schematically illustrates a simple electrochemical plating system. The ―electro‖ part of the system includes the voltage/current source and the electrodes, anode and cathode, immersed in the ―chemical‖ part of the system, the electrolyte or plating bath, with the circuit being completed by the flow of ions from the plating bath to the electrodes. The metal to be deposited may be the anode and be ionized and go into solution in the electrolyte, or come from the composition of the plating bath. Copper, tin, silver and nickel metal usually comes from anodes, while gold salts are usually added to the plating bath in a controlled process to maintain the composition of the bath. The plating bath generally contains other ions to facilitate current flow between the electrodes. The deposition of metal takes place at the cathode. The overall plating process occurs in the following sequence: 1. Power supply pumps electrons into the cathode. 2. An electron from the cathode transfers to a positively charged metal ion in the solution and the reduced metal plates onto the cathode. -

ABSTRACT CONTROLLING AC MOTOR USING ARDUINO MICROCONTROLLER Nithesh Reddy Nannuri, M.S. Department of Electrical Engineering Northern Illinois University, 2014 Donald S Zinger, Director Space vector modulation (SVM) is a technique used for generating alternating current waveforms to control pulse width modulation signals (PWM). It provides better results of PWM signals compared to other techniques. CORDIC algorithm calculates hyperbolic and trigonometric functions of sine, cosine, magnitude and phase using bit shift, addition and multiplication operations. This thesis implements SVM with Arduino microcontroller using CORDIC algorithm. This algorithm is used to calculate the PWM timing signals which are used to control the motor. Comparison of the time taken to calculate sinusoidal signal using Arduino and CORDIC algorithm was also done.
