Pedigree Updates and Research Larry Dosier WELCOME…

Please enjoy the Top Boxers of 2011 with us!

1 2011 Top Twenty Winner Join us to celebrate the top Boxers of 2011! GCH R AND G’S MYSTICAL DANCER This evening we are celebrating the top Boxers of “Danny” 2011. The glamour of tonight is a fitting tribute to these Boxers. Again this year we are fortunate enough to have some of our past Top Twenty winners and that is always a joy to all. Boxers eligible for this competition are the 20 top- scoring Boxers compiled from data provided by AKC for the period from January 1, 2011 through Decem- ber 31, 2011. These statistics are based on the number of dogs and bitch- es defeated with their Best of Breed wins. (Group and Best in Show wins are not counted.) Also, again this year, we were delighted to have Larry Dosier provide updated pedigrees all formatted in a uniform manner and we thank him for this monumental effort!

Again this year, you will find the “People’s Choice Award” ballot in your catalog which gives YOU the chance to evaluate each of these dogs and then to make YOUR choice for the BEST! Fill out your ballot and deposit it in the “People’s Choice Award” as you leave. The winner will be an- nounced at the ABC Awards Dinner and will receive the People’s Choice Rosette and plaque. Join the fun and make YOUR choice count by filling out your ballot and depositing it in the ballot box as you leave.

The three judges for this event were nominated and selected by the Top Twenty Nominating Committee, chaired by Wendy Morawski, in a secret election. Part of the excitement is that none of the committee members know which judges were elected until tonight! All three judges will score each dog and their scores will be averaged. The winner will be announced at the end of the competition tonight and the signed score sheets will be posted. Owners: Breeders: Presented by: Chairman Loretta Parolisi and her committee have worked hard to ensure Roberto Bezerra Gayann Jones Kimberlie Steele-Gamero that our top Boxers have the special show that they deserve and we are Richard Servetnick Kimberlie Steele-Gamero most grateful for their expertise in showcasing the Best of our Boxers! Barbara Bachman Now--celebrate each of these lovely Boxers as they circle the ring and, most of all---Enjoy the Evening! Carole Desmond Gary Steele Top Twenty Committee Kimberlie Steele-Gamero

12 13 Judging Procedure for the Top Twenty

1. When the judges first see each dog, they must score it according to an Average Placement Scale of 1 – 10 before it is judged. In Points Awarded Points ______other words, the judge must look at the dog on the whole and score ______it on that scale, with a score of 10 meaning that, as a first impres-

sion, the dog appears to be in perfect harmony with the judge’s TOTAL picture of the “ideal” Boxer. Then, the dogs are scored individually by each of the three judg- 100 es, using the Top Twenty Boxer Point Schedule, which is derived from the Standard. When a judge examines an individual dog and points Maximum compares it mentally to his or her own picture of the “ideal,” that judge is going through an evaluation process. The Top Twenty Box- ...... er Point Schedule adds the assignment of numerical values to this Total Possible evaluation and it demands that the judge indicate wherein penalties are assessed for less than the ideal. Since the scores are posted, each judge goes on record, part by part, when they score the dog...... This “hands-on” scoring is far more time consuming than the com- parison judging that we are used to. After all, these are our Top Twenty Boxers and they are all competing for the top spot! This

22 23 GCH RAINTREE’S THE RECRUIT “Danny”

Once, perhaps twice, in a breeder’s show career a dog comes along that is nearly all one could possibly hope for. For us “The Recruit” has been that dog. When we saw him as a very young puppy we knew that he was going to be exciting at home and in the ring.

We have been showing Boxers for many years with many champi- ons, but knowing we might not get another boy this nice, we limited his shows in the classes. He was awarded his first BOB from the 6-9 month puppy class over specials. He received his champion- ship with back-to-back BOBs in April 2011 at 16 months of age. Two months later he entered the Top Twenty and also completed his Grand Champion points. With some pretty heavy-hitters in the ring, he has won BISS and many Group placements. We are very proud of this young dog’s (two years old) achievements in such a short time as a special.

28 29 GCH MAHOGANY’S WILL O’ THE WISP “Winston”

Two days before our 30th wedding anniversary, our life-long dream to own a Boxer was fulfilled when Winston charged into our kitchen, grabbed the toy dog sitting on his new donut bed and started pushing it around the kitchen floor with his nose. He is a joy and we will forever be grateful to Mahogany Boxers’ LuAnn and Dave Gardner for entrusting Winston to us.

Although we had not planned on being part of the show world, the Gardners helped us understand the potential Winston had and he has fulfilled his promise and brought us here tonight. We are honored to be in the company of the other contenders and fellow Boxer lovers.

From the start, Winston was a natural in the show ring. In his first summer, he won two best puppy competitions and a Puppy Group 2. In three days of showing at the 2009 ABC Regional, he won the 9-12 month puppy class twice and placed second the third day. Winston won back-to-back majors in February 2010 and finished a month later with a 4-point major at 16 months.

2011 was Jackson’s third finish in the Top 20 and the most reward- ing. Our “Hero” underwent ACL surgery after the 2010 competition. He had a long and slow rehab but he made an amazing recovery. After several months of careful loving care, his effortless stride was back.

Jackson had been out of the ring nearly a year when we entered him in a local show in January of 2011 – “Just for fun!” He won the Breed the second day!

He responded beautifully to the expert handling of Carlos Puig, and they teamed up in April to pursue his Grand Championship. Shortly after achieving his GCH, Jackson was ranked and the fun contin- ued.

We are thrilled to have Molly competing in the Top 20 for the second consecutive year. Last year was a wonderful year in the Show Ring for Molly, becoming a Top 20 contender in just 8 weekends of shows with Kim. She is a natural. A stunning example of a proud, elegant dog who moves effortlessly around the ring, always catching the judge’s eye. As with most Boxers, Molly is so much more than a show dog. She always wants to please and will do anything we ask of her. She is always alert and full of life. Molly is first up in the morning and last to bed. She is loyal, sweet, welcoming and energetic, always eager for a game of “tug” or one-sided fetch and daring anyone to touch her prized Jolly Ball. A comic, she never fails to make us laugh at her antics. Molly is a breeder’s Dream Come True and OUR best friend as well as the perfect companion sleeping by our side every night. 40 41 GCH. TELSTAR’S ALL THAT GLITTERS AT CINNIBON “Crystal”

Crystal is all that glitters here at CinniBon. Being a standout jewel from her litter made finishing her as an owner-handler possible, our first fully owner handled champion. Our exciting journey began at 2010 ABC by winning Futurity Best Pup- py and Reserve Winners from the 6-9 class, wonderfully shown by Diego Garcia (Judges Clifford Steele & Tom Perret, respectively).

We knew Crystal was special. Both judges and onlookers alike noticed her obvious qualities: effortless movement; lovely expression; and elegant, square body. We soon realized she could aspire to more than we originally planned. To ensure she reached her potential, we entrusted Crystal to the very capable hands of Handler Wendy Bettis.

Last year just weeks after earning her Championship, Crystal entered the 2011 Nationals ring with her new handler, surrounded by top ranking Boxers/champions. We were ecstatic when Judge Shirley Bell awarded her Select Bitch, with so many lovely boxers in contention.

In just over 8 months, Crystal ended 2011 ranked #10 in breed with the following highlights: Ch. Telstar’s Claim Jumper SOM • 33 Breed wins Ch. Glennroe Rob Roy of Telstar A/C SOM • Numerous Group 1 wins and Group placements Ch Telstar’s Tarantella • Several Best in Specialty wins Ch. Frank's short back, effortless gait, handsome masculine headpiece and undeniable showmanship epitomizes the perfect blend of breed type, substance and elegance, which has been admired by breed enthusiasts, all-breed and breed specialist alike.

As many years of thoughtful breeding would predict, Frank's abil- ity as a strong sire is becoming quite evident. He is on the qualities of the many sires and dams of merit, ABC Top Twenty win- ners and contenders that dominate his pedigree.

Frank reached for the stars with extremely limited showing in 2011 garnering many Best of Breeds, Best in Show Specialties, Groups 1sts and Group placements.

46 47 GCH Pheasant Hollow's All Time High “Rohan”

At just 3 years of age, and always shown by our daughter and co- breeder Allison Jones, this is Rohan’s second year in the American Boxer Club Top Twenty. As his breeder/owners we feel he is a once- in-a-lifetime dog. His outstanding head and bite, flawless movement as well as his strength, balance and correct angulation and rear make him a Boxer in every sense of the word. These qualities have been recognized and rewarded by breeder judges and those who appreciate proper structure.

This year at the Regional series, Rohan won Best Opposite Sex four out of five days in a huge specials ring, losing the Best of Breed nod only to the top-winning bitch of all time. His daughter was Winners Bitch one of the days, as well. He is proving his ability as a stud dog.

Since he is only getting better with age, we will continue to selec- tively show him and would like to thank all of the judges and breed- ers who awarded him recognition.

Rock is not just our show dog, but foremost our family dog. Being a “special” meant that we were going to visit venues all over North America.

His career took off at the 2010 ABC Nationals. With handler Cindy Crawford-Gorath, Rock survived cut after cut to finally receive the third Award of Merit under Jack Ireland.

At the ABC Regionals in Topeka that summer, in a closely contest- ed battle for breed, he received Select Dog to the eventual winner. Thank you Judge Pat Mullens…however we just missed the Top Twenty by a few breed points.

50 51 GCH. PEARLISLE’S TRIAL BY FIRE ‘Meghan”

Meghan debuted by going RWB at the Eastern Boxer Club dur- ing Regional week, 2009, at the tender age of 6 months and one week. Three more major wins finished her champion- ship by July. Meghan was a BISS winner at the New Brunswick KC Specialty show, but our moment came when she was awarded an Award of Merit at the 2011 ABC National.

She has made us, as her breeders, very proud and she honors her pedigree.

Thank you to Team Struff for their care and confidence in present- ing our Meg to the fancy. We also want to thank our “staff member” Karen Quagliana.

To paraphrase a line from a popular motion picture of more than a few years ago-- puppies are “like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna’ get.” It didn’t take long for us to realize that with Riley, we were certainly getting something special! In his first show, at six months of age, Riley was awarded WD/BOW for a five-point major. Unabashed at his early success, Riley took to the show ring like a star, finishing at just nine months of age, including 2 All- breed Best Puppy in Shows. What an exciting ride from such a young boy. Little did we realize that the adventure had just begun! Riley took on the best and achieved his Grand Championship at 12 months of age. He then went on to take California by storm, achieving the following in 2011:

Multiple Best in Shows #4 Boxer All Breed Top 20 Working Dog #9 Boxer

Riley has given us a wonderful and glorious ride in 2011. It is with chests burst- ing with pride that we present this beautiful young Boxer as a Top 20 Contender.
