This study presents the first comprehensive inventory of species composition and diversity of insects of the Reserve. Insects were surveyed between September 2011 and June 2012 to capture the end of the rainy season, the dry season and the peak of the wet season. Samples were taken from two sites within the Reserve, Dagomba and Oku using various sampling techniques including pitfall traps, malaise traps and sweep nets. Insect com- munities were characterized in terms of, 1) species richness estimators, 2) species richness, 3) Shannon-Weiner Index of Diversity, 4) Pielou’s evenness and 5) Bray-Curtis similarity. -

Esta Agência, então, enviou a Cabo Verde uma delegação chefiada pelo Sr. Shigeru Nakada da empresa NTC International, no período de Janeiro de 2008 a Dezembro de 2010. A Delegação de Estudo, além de manter discussões com as autoridades competentes da República de Cabo Verde, realizou uma série de estudos de campo e, após trabalhos relativos no Japão, hoje tem o prazer de apresentar o Relatório concluído. Therefore, the current study was designed and carried out during the past decade. A list of LFPs for 207 butterfly species (Super family Papilionoidea) of Sri Lanka is presented based on local studies and includes 785 plant-butterfly combinations and 480 plant species. Many of these combinations are reported for the first time in Sri Lanka. The impact of introducing new plants on the dynamics of abundance and distribution of butterflies, the possibility of butterflies being pests on crops, and observations of LFPs of rare butterfly species, are discussed. ABSTRACT The butterflies Byblia ilithyia (Nymphalidae), Pieris canidia (Pieridae) and Azanus jesous (Lycaenidae) and the day-flying moth, Nyctemera adversata (Erebidae) are oligophagous. Previously, only B. ilithyia has been reported to be occurring in this region while the other three species are being reported for the first time from this region. The larval host plants include Jatropha gossypiifolia and Tragia involucrata for B. ilithyia, Brassica oleracea var. oleracea and B. oleracea var. botrytis for P. canidia, and Acacia auriculiformis for Azanus jesous. The nectar plants include Tragia involucrata, Euphorbia hirta and Jatropha gossypiifolia for B. ilithyia, Premna latifolia and Cleome viscosa for P. canidia, Lagascea mollis, Tridax procumbens and Digera muricata for A. jesous and Bidens pilosa for 275 N. adversata. The study recommends extensive field investigations to find out more larval plants and nectar plants for each Page lepidopteran species now reported. -

Despite the late season almost half or exactly 43.5 % of the species known for Dhofar were observed. Among rare species one must mention Colotis eris contractus Gabriel, Colotis antievippe zera (Lucas), Axiocerces harapax kadugli Talbot, Cycareus virilis Aurvillius and Euchrysops osiris (Hopffer). The biogeographic composi tion of encountered species is given. Kljub pozni sezoni je bilo opazovanih skoraj polovica, točneje 43,5 % vrst, znanih za Dhofar. Med redkimi vrstami moramo omeniti Colotis eris con tractus Gabriel, Colotis antievippe zera (Lucas), Axiocerces harapax kadugli Talbot, Cycareus virilis Aurvillius in Euchrysops osiris (Hopffer). The pattern of butterfly abundance and species richness are studied in wild (forest, scrub and grassland) and human-impacted (garden, plantation and grassland) areas in the 190-hectare campus of SGB Amravati University, Amravati, Maharastra, India. A total of 52 butterfly species belonging to Hesperiidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Lycaenidae and Nymphalidae families were recorded in five areas (biotopes). Species abundance rose from the beginning of the monsoon (June-July) and reached a peak in early winter (August-November). A decline in species abundance was observed from late winter (December-January) and continued up to the end of summer (May). The number of species within biotopes varied from 23 to 33; 17 species were noticeably absent in the disturbed and human-impacted sites (garden, plantation and grassland) and there was no occurrence of unique species in moderately disturbed areas comparable to those of less disturbed wild areas. On the basis of biotope occurrence, 67% of butterfly species were clas- sified as disturbance-adaptable (occurring in all biotopes) and 33% as disturbance avoiders (restricted to wild areas such as forest, scrub and undisturbed areas elsewhere).
