Live with integrity. Make it right.” We did just that in 2009, despite a global economic downturn. For our volunteers, our employees and our community partners it was certainly a year of which to be proud. We enjoyed many “firsts” in 2009: In May there was a capacity crowd at the Grandstand for the only Canadian stop on the tour of the Red Bull X-Fighters, the world’s best free-style motocross series. BMO became a Champion-level sponsor in June with the official opening of the Roundup Centre expansion. The entire facility, with a capacity of 265,000 square feet, is now called the BMO Centre and BMO joins our other Champion-level sponsors: Bell, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Enmax, GMC and TransAlta. The first vehicular cable-stay bridge in Alberta was completed in June. This environmentally friendly structure and the nearby underpass opened access to 25th Avenue S.E.
