Graduate Research Assistant, Office of Instructional Innovation, College of Education, the University of Texas at Austin (September 2018 – present) • Develop online course curriculum and create course materials; • Provide advising on teaching, research and educational technology tools; • Support college technology initiatives and instructors’ classroom teaching with technology.

Research Associate, National Institute of Education, (June to July 2017) Research project: Cultivating Singapore teachers’ laterality through networked learning community Principal investigator: Dr. David Huang Jun Song (Assistant Dean – Research Management, Office of Education Research) • Analyzed how lateral networks formed in the Singapore education context and its support for teacher learning; • Produced project closure report and co-wrote a paper for conference submission (see the publication list below).

Research Associate, National Institute of Education, Singapore (November 2015 to May 2017) Research project: Multilevel technology integration for diffusing complex pedagogical innovations Principal investigator: Dr. Yancy Toh (Research Scientist, the Centre for Research in Pedagogy and Practice) • Validated a survey instrument regarding students’ perception of their seamless science learning practices and motivation to learn; • Adopted the validated survey to measure the learning and motivation aspects of our project samples, examine the changes across time and its prediction towards students’ academic performance; • Co-developed an instructional framework to guide teachers in designing inquiry science lessons; • Investigated how a technology-mediated pedagogical innovation, which is brought forth via the mechanism of professional learning community, influenced teachers’ lesson design capacities and their pedagogical skills; • Scaled-up a technology-mediated inquiry science innovation to Primary three in the school under study; • Produced research reports and co-wrote four papers for conferences and two for journal submission (see the publication list below).

Research Assistant, National Institute of Education, Singapore (August 2013 to October 2015) Research project: Developing scientific argumentation skills in pre-service and in-service science teachers Principal investigator: Associate Professor Aik-Ling Tan (Deputy Head – Teaching and Curriculum Matters, Natural Sciences and Science Education Academic Group) • Developed a topical science argumentation package for pre-service and in-service teachers; • Collected data and analyzed the pre-service and in-service teachers’ social interactions during science argumentative discussion; • Reviewed the science argumentation package and the intervention ; • Co-wrote five paper for conferences and one for journal submission (see the publication list below).

Self-study (January 2013 to July 2013) After leaving CPSS, I took a half-year break and fully utilized the time to do my own self-study before proceeding to apply for the research position in National Institute of Education, Singapore.

Head of Research and Development Department cum Mathematics Teacher, Confucian Private Secondary School (CPSS), Malaysia (August 2007 to December 2012) • Designed, led and evaluated a school-based curriculum for the learning and development of underperforming 7th – 9th graders; • Planned and implemented school-based teacher professional development modules and activities; • Mentored teachers in conducting their action research; • Co-organized a national educational conference and periodical inter-school professional development programs.
