İstanbul’un zengin kültür yapısıyla sosyoloji alanını nasıl bir araya getirebileceğimi düşünürken İstanbul türbelerinin zengin bir araştırma sahası olarak bunu sağlayabileceğine karar verdim. Aziz Mahmut Hüdayi, Eyüp Sultan ve Telli Baba türbelerinde ziyaretçilerin duygu dünyaları üzerinden, türbe mekânına yüklenen anlam ve bu mekânda oluşan kültürü ortaya koymaya çalıştım. Araştırma, türbe mekânlarında sürekli bir hareketlilik ve yaşayan bir kültür olduğunu ortaya koydu. Bu çalışmanın oluşmasında emeği geçen, ders aldığım değerli yüksek lisans hocalarıma, tezimi onaylayan değerli jüri hocalarım Prof. Dr. Bahattin Akşit, Yrd. Doç. ÖZET Türbe mekânı incelenerek orada oluşan kültürü anlamak bu çalışmanın amacını oluşturdu. İstanbul’un türbe zenginliği ve çeşitliliğinden yola çıkılarak belirlenen Aziz Mahmut Hüdayi, Eyüp Sultan ve Telli Baba türbeleri araştırma sahası olarak seçildi. Her türbede 10’ar olmak üzere toplam 30 derinlemesine görüşme yapıldı. Araştırma türbelerde yapılan gözlemlerle zenginleştirildi. Yapılan görüşme ve gözlemlerde; katılımcıların kişisel özellikleri, türbe ziyaretleri, türbe algıları üzerinden türbe mekânıyla ilişkilerini ortaya koymaya yönelik bir çerçeve çizildi. Çalışmanın giriş bölümünde, mekân teorileri, türbe kültürü ve bağlantılı olduğu yapılar, araştırma yapılan türbelerin tanıtımı, tezin amaç ve önemi anlatılarak kavramsal çerçeve ve sorunsal ortaya kondu. Yöntem bölümünde, araştırmada kullanılan katımcı gözlem, derinlemesine görüşme ve gömülü teori yöntemleri görüşme süreciyle birlikte ele alınarak anlatıldı. Araştırmanın zorlukları ve etik sorunlar da bu bölümde verildi. Bulgular bölümünde, ziyaretçiler, esnaf ve türbe görevlileriyle yapılan görüşmelerde öne çıkan konular yine onların ifadeleri eşliğinde yorumlandı. Tartışma ve Sonuç bölümünde ise, elde edilen bulgular araştırma konusu bağlamında değerlendirildi. Araştırma, üç türbede ve niteliksel yöntemlerle yapıldığından sonuçlar genellenmedi fakat türbe kültürü ve mekânını anlamaya yönelik açıklayıcı bilgilere ulaşıldı. Bulguların kutuplaşmaları desteklemediği, kamusal-özel, modern-geleneksel, sıradan-kutsal mekân pratiklerinin bir arada yaşandığı görüldü. “Sıradan” ve “kutsal” olanla iletişimin sağlandığı yerler olarak görülen türbeler, türbe algısı birbirinden farklı kişilerce ziyaret edilmekte, bu farklılıklar ziyareti çeşitlendirmekte, şekillendirmekte ve dönüştürmektedir. Zaman zaman formel bakış açılarının eleştirilerine hedef olsa da, türbe ziyaretlerine toplumsal ilgi sürmekte, “türbe mekânı” yaşayan bir mekân olmayı sürdürmektedir. Anahtar kelimeler: Türbe, Kamusal-Özel Alan, Modern-Geleneksel-Dini Pratikler, Kutsal Mekân, Ziyaret Kültürü ii ABSTRACT Understanding the culture around visiting tombs by examining the tomb site created the core purpose of this study. Considering the richness and diversity of tombs in Istanbul, Aziz Mahmut Hüdayi, Eyüp Sultan and Telli Baba tombs are chosen as fields of the research. Thirty interviews are conducted in total, with ten interviews at each tomb site. The study is enriched with observations. In the interviews and observations, the aim is to reveal the participants’ relationships with the tombs through the impersonality traits, patterns of tomb visits, and perceptions. In the introductory part of the study, the conceptional framework and research questions are presented by discussing relevant spatial theories, tomb culture, the constructions it is attached, the presentation of the researched tombs, and the purpose and importance of the thesis. In the method part, the participant observation, in-depth interview and grounded theory methods are explained by contextualizing the interviewing process. The challenges of the research and ethical problems are also presented in this part. In the findings part, the points that were raised during the interviews with the visitors, shop keepers in the area and tomb attendants, are interpreted citing verbatim transcriptions of interviews. In the discussion and conclusion part, the findings are evaluated in the context of the research subject. The research results are not generalized as it was conducted using qualitative methods and only in three tombs, however explanatory information, which helped understand the tomb culture and the site, is presented. Tombs, which are seen as spaces in which communication between “ordinary” and “sacred” takes place are visited by people with different perceptions of a tomb and these differences diversify, shape and transform the visit. Although it is the target of formal points of view, the public interest in tomb visits persists and the “tomb site” continues to be popular among diverse populations. Maganda ang pagiging masunurin at magandang asal sa mga mgaulang pero ngayon wala ng kagandahang asal dahil di na sila sumusunod sa tariqa.Ang tariqa ay nagututuro ng kagandahang asal. Dito sa Anatoia, ang mga tariqa ay pinagbawala. Nung mawala ang Ottomans napuno na ng demonyo ang lugar na ito. Ang Tariqa ay pinagbawal din sa ilang muslim na bansa. Mayroon din na ibang bansa ang masama ang tingin sa tariqa. Sabi nila kapag nagpakita ka ng magandang asal at respeto ay masama ka daw. Ganito ang pagkagalit nila sa Tariqa. Sinusundan nila ang shaytan. Akala nila na dasal at pag-ayuno lang ang kailangan sa Islam. Mahalaga ang matutuo ng kagandahan asal. Tinuruan ng magandang asal ang Banal Propeta Muhammad alayhis salatu was salam at kanya naman ito naituro sa mga Sahaba. Ang mga Sahaba naman ang nagturo sa mga Ulama at Awliya. Ito ang daan niya. May mga zawiyas na ipinasara na dahil nawala na ang mga Shaykhs at Ulama. Ang mga natira na lang ay mga masasamang loob.May ilan din ang mga sumusunod sa kanila at nadadala sa kasamaan.

On the one hand there existed for several centuries the Bektaşi which was heterodox order. But in the eighteenth century there started to ex- pand from India a new sufi order: the Naqshbandi – Mujaddidi order known to have been a shari’a minded and highly orthodox order. The result was a dichotomy between religious trends the clash between which reached a high level in 1826. Following the destruction of the janissaries, the Bektaşi order lost its traditional protector and few weeks later was abolished. But a generation later it started to experience a beginning of a revival and by the mid 1860s it started to practice unhindered. But after the rise of Sultan Abdülhamid ii (in 1876) the Bektaşis were again forced to practice clandes- tinely. However, they supported Mustafa Kemal in the national struggle. Hakan Erdem This thesis endeavors to present a literary-historical analysis of a seventeenth century work of prose, Habnâme , which was written by one of the prominent literary figures of his time, Veysî. He was born in Ala şehir in 1561/2, and died in 1628 in Skopje. Having been enrolled in medrese education, he worked as a kadı in various locations in both Anatolia and Rumeli including Ala şehir, Tire, Serez and Skopje. He is, however, better known for his literary abilities, and respected by both contemporary biographers and modern scholars as one of the leading figures of Ottoman ornamental prose. In his Habnâme, Veysî constructs a dream setting, in which the Alexander the Two- Horned has a conversation with Ahmed I regarding Ahmed’s concerns of the abuses in state apparatus.

This was undertaken by Molla Abdullah Ilahi of Simav (d. 896/1491), whose prolonged sojourn in Samarqand and Bukhara culminated in his initiation by the great Naqshbandl master, Khoja 'Ubaydutlah Ahrar (d. 895/1490), and Emir Ahmed Buharl (d. 922/ 1516), a fellow disciple of Ilahi who accompanied him back to Simav; first Buhar! and then Ilahi himself moved to Istanbul in order to establish the first Naqshbandi circle in the Ortaınan capitaJ.l This was but the beginning of a fairly constant flow of Naqshbandis from various parts of Central Asia to Istanbul, signifıcant enough to result in the foundation of tekkes to accommodate them during their stays of varying duration, tekkes typically bearing designations such as Buhara tekkesi or Özbekler tek­ kesi.2 1l1e great majority of these Central Asian visitoı·s remained anonymous, having little or no impact on the established Naqshbandi circles of Istanbul, a city which apart from its great cultural and polirical prestige was for them primarily a staging post en route to the hajj. It was generally from India and the Hijaz, not from Central Asia, that new branches of Naqshbandi tradition were transplanred to Istanbul.
