How do I get to Gdansk? 16:40 By plane: Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is located 12 km west from the city centre and operates flights from many Polish and Euro- pean cities. Among the others, following airlines offer service from/to GdanskAirport: Wizz Air, Ryanair, Lufthansa, Polish Airlines LOT For more info go to: http://www.airport.gdansk.pl/ 16:43 Getting from the airport to the city center 16:43 Bus Buses 210 & N3 provide services from the airport to Dworzec Glówny (the main station in the city centre). It can take 35 - 50 minutes depending on traffic. You should take the bus going in Orunia Goscinna direction. Make sure to get on in the right direction at the airport because buses go in two di- rections from there. Remember to buy a ticket! (for more info go to the Transportation in Gdansk - tickets section) PKM (Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway) Trains run regularly between the airport’s own station and Gdansk Glowny and it takes 30 minutes to get there. Tickets can be purchased from ticket offices, ticket machines on the platform or from the conductor. You can check the timetable here: http://rozklad-pkp.pl/en For more info go to: https://www.inyourpocket.com/gdansk/ pkm_138417v 16:47 Type a message... 20:17 BEST Gdansk typing... Uber Similar to taxi but functions as a mobile app. You just order a car, get some details about the driver, check the price and you don’t need cash as your credit card will be charged automatically. The price is about 25-40 zł (it will cost more if you’d like to order a car of high standard). For more info go to: https://www.uber.com/en-PL/ride/ 16:50 Type a message... 20:17 BEST Gdansk typing... Getting from another airport to Gdansk 16:51 By train: Gdansk has direct railway connections with all the biggest Polish cities, such as Wroclaw, Krakow, Katowice, Lodz, War- saw, Poznan and Szczecin. For the timetables and further information go to: http://roz- klad-pkp.pl/en. There is quite a good service operating from Warsaw (Ex- press InterCity) and Poznan (TLK) and fast direct international service from Berlin (EuroCity). For further information about Berlin – Gdansk train service go to: https://www.intercity.pl/en/ The other domestic train services are usually much slower and less comfortable, that’s why we recommend you to take a bus. 16:58 By bus: We recommend you travelling by PolskiBus from the following cities: Lodz, Krakow, Wroclaw, Katowice and also Prague. It is the cheapest and fastest way to get to Gdansk from these locations. It may be also worth to go by PolskiBus from Warsaw and Poznan. Buses are comfortable and equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The sooner you book your ticket the cheaper price you’ll get. You can book your tick- et at: http://www.polskibus.com/en. It’s also possible to get to Gdansk by bus from other locations such as Kaliningrad, Germany, France, Netherlands and more. 17:02 Type a message... 20:17 BEST Gdansk typing... Transportation in Tricity 17:05 Buses and trams The center of Gdansk is very compact and almost every- thing is accessible on foot, the trams seem to go around the old town so none run through it. Trams and buses are cheap and frequent. You use the same kind of tickets for buses and trams. SKM (fast city train) Use the commuter train (SKM) to go quickly to Sopot and Gdynia. Trains depart every 15 minutes in a daytime, every 30 minutes in the evening and once an hour in the night. Ticket to Gdynia costs PLN 5.70 and ticket to Sopot costs PLN 3.80. To find connections go to: http://www.skm.pkp.pl/ 17:07 Taxi We can recommend you Dajan Taxi company with the following charges: hiring a taxi – €2.00; kilometrage rate per km €0.5 day, €0.75 night. Dajan Taxi phone: +48 58 196 28; +48 58 306 00 00 Before getting into the taxi make sure that the price is correct and ask about the final price - it will help you to avoid possible unpleasant situations. Note that Taxis from taxi stop are much more expensive. Uber From anywhere in the Tricity you can order an uber and you don’t need to worry about the payment. It’s all done automati- cally but always remember to check the price. You can cancel the order within 5 minutes. For more info go to: https://www.uber.com/en-PL/ride/ 17:12 Type a message... 20:17 BEST Gdansk typing... Tickets 17:13 For buses and trams Daytime: • one way ticket - 3,00 zł - not available from the driver • one hour ticket - 3,40 zł Nighttime: • one hour ticket - 4,60 zł One day ticket - 12 zł - works both in night and day. Where to buy: Ticket machine on the bus stop (a list of tickect machines: http://www.ztm.gda.pl/en/index.php/automaty/listing) , kiosk, news stand, Bilety shop, from the driver for the amount deducted. 17:15 For SKM (Fast City Train) Price of tickets depends on distance, for example from Gdansk Main Station • to Sopot - 3,80 zl • to Gdynia - 5,70 zl Where to buy: ticket machine at the platform, ticket office at the station, kiosk, news stand, Bilety shop, from train manager the first carriage of the train (additional 2,80 zl charge). Always remember to punch the ticket before getting into the train. Only tickets bought from the ticket ma- chine do not need to be validated. Note that ticket inspections are very frequent in Tricity. Fine for travelling without the valid ticket is up to 170 zl high! 17:20 Type a message... 20:17 BEST Gdansk typing... Useful website and mobile app We recommend you using website jakdojade.pl and e-po- droznik.pl (both as mobile apps) to check connections from the point A to B in Tricity and also other big Polish cities. It works for buses, trams and SKM. http://trojmiasto.jakdojade.pl/?locale=en https://en.e-podroznik.pl/ 17:22 But...where am I actually going? Gdansk is a city of nearly half million people, undoubtedly one of the most popular tourist and cultural centers, resilient- ly developing university and commercial center.
