• PRIVATE collective • Asian Cinema Film Club watch films from the Asian continent together – ranging from classics to underground and avant-garde gems – and to reflect on the sociopolitical cultural familial issues presented and the cinematic strategies through which they are negotiated. Each film will be followed by a common discussion aiming to unpack these issues and aesthetics from inter- Asian-diasporic / BIPoC perspectives – engaging with these films (as artistic productions, social commentary, and political texts) foregoing the usual Western lens of white critique and exoticism. We aim to be a regular community BIPoC space in which we can gather to learn from films and from each other.
