The “CWDS Library Resources Series” is an attempt to highlight the various aspect of our specialized library collection relating to women and development studies. The materials available in the library are in the forms of books and monographs, reports, reprints, conferences Papers/ proceedings, journals/newsletters and newspaper clippings.

The present bibliography “Gender and Migration” is compiled on the occasion of NATIONAL COLLOQUIUM ON GENDER AND MIGRATION, organised by Centre for Women’s Development Studies , New Delhi on 6 th March, 2012.

The bibliography focuses on the Migration in - from rural to urban areas, from one state to another state i.e. regional migration. The international migration of Indians going to work in various parts of the world and also settling abroad is covered. Issues of seasonal migration, the impact on women and children, employment, wages, remittances, health, marriage, family, culture and so on are focused upon. The bibliography contains the references available in the CWDS library both published as well as unpublished in a variety of formats. Analytical entries in the form of an article from the edited books have also been included. However, newspaper clippings have been excluded from this bibliography.

The bibliography covers the material from 1979 to 2011 and contains over 530 entries. It is divided in two parts. Part I. contains over 422 entries from books, monographs, conference papers/proceedings and analytical articles. Part II. contains over 108 entries from the periodicals. The list of periodicals both Indian and foreign is given in Appendix I.

The entries are arranged alphabetically under author, corporate body and title as the case may be. For easy and quick retrieval three indexes viz.name index containing personal and institutional names, keyword index and geographical index have been provided at the end.

We would like to acknowledge the support of our professional colleagues at library. Akhlaq Ahmad provided technical inputs and support to host the bibliography online. Vijay has been a continuous help in taking out the material.
