WRCU 2/10 ROTATIONS RIYL = Recommended If You Like Alone, Omen 3 by King Krule RIYL: Cosmo Pyke, Ariel Pink The chameleonic singer-songwriter is gearing up for the February 21st release of his next album, Man Alive!, with single "Alone, Omen 3", which displays elements of both the stark, rough-shod post-punk of his first record, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, and the more eclectic art pop leanings of his second, The OOZ. But "Alone, Omen 3" also hints at a new, psychedelically inclined direction for Marshall, featuring a more understated vocal performance and a woozy, meditative tone. On “Run,” a haunting, mysterious electric guitar snakes its way through the song supported by heartbreaking lyrics. Imagine you’re driving along a coastal highway, top-down, feeling the wind, letting the song’s words wash over you, and thinking of your last great love...all while wearing a bad-ass, black leather jacket. WeTransfer and King Krule announce new video collaboration King Krule presents video for ‘Biscuit Town’ from his Mercury Prize nominated album 'The OOZ' as the first of a three-part video collaboration with WeTransfer. Photography: Still from 'Biscuit Town'. Today King Krule releases a music video for "Biscuit Town," the opening track from his Mercury Prize nominated album The OOZ. The video comes as the first of a three-part collaboration with WeTransfer, which sees King Krule explore the creative process with each video’s director, hosted on WePresent. Directed by friends and long-term collaborators cc. Wade (aka Michael and Paraic Morrissey), the video sees King Krule (aka Archy Marshall) inhabiting his own noir ‘Biscuit Town’- waking up and retracing his footsteps through the city, piecing together the remnants of a hazy, half- remembered night before. A reflection of his futuristic, jazz-inflected, film-inspired sound, the video serves to compliment the warm, dreamlike quality of ‘Biscuit Town’. King Krule’s second LP The OOZ was released in October last year to wide spread critical acclaim, and follows on from 2013’s also critically lauded album Six Feet Beneath the Moon. In the interim, Archy Marshall also released A New Place 2 Drown, a collaborative multimedia projects with his brother, Jack. Still only 23 years-old, Archy Marshall has created his own immersive universe to inhabit.
