Menen Asfaw is 21 years old and a sophomore at Southwest TN Community College. Originally from Ethiopia, she grew up in Memphis. Her family decided to move because her father wanted better opportunities for them, and America fit their criteria. She is bilingual in English and Amharic. Like many of our students, Menen decided to go Southwest and then transfer to a four-year university. Upon graduation from college, Menen wants to use her degree in Business Administration and Political Science to find a career that is geared towards helping people, preferably in public service and politics. Helping people is her passion. Even in her free time, she volunteers her time and talents to those who need it. She is a perfectionist, which is wonderful for her path of choice. Her favorite holiday is Christmas because of it’s contagious giving spirit and her favorite place to eat is the Blue Nile.
