LOUISVILLE, Ky. — NCAA Division II's Adelphi University registered a 3.724 grade-point average to pace all colleges, while Hazelton Area and Byron Nelson led the high school unweighted and weighted categories in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 10 Academic Team rankings for the 2013-14 school year. The rankings recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across seven membership divisions. The University of Nebraska at Omaha (3.670) topped NCAA Division I, while Emerson College (3.644) was the Division III leader, William Carey (3.704) set the NAIA standard and East Mississippi Community College (3.587) was No. 1 among junior colleges.
