Thanks should go to Scott Woodwiss for suggesting the topic, and the teams, and we’ll dive right in with Simtek Grand Prix. Simtek Grand Prix was Born from Simtek Research Ltd, the name standing for Simulation Technology. The company founders were Nick Wirth and Max Mosley, Both of whom had serious pedigree within motorsport. Mosley had Been a team owner Before with March, and Wirth was a mechanical engineering student who was snapped up By March as an aerodynamicist, working underneath Adrian Newey. When March was sold to Leyton House, Mosley and Wirth? Both decided to leave, and joined forces to create Simtek. Originally, the company had a single office in Wirth’s house, But it was soon oBvious they needed a Bigger, more wind‐tunnel shaped Base, which they Built in Oxfordshire. Mosley had the connections that meant racing teams from all over the gloBe were interested in using their research technologies, But while keeping the clients satisfied, Simtek Began designing an F1 car for BMW in secret. -

Because it's all very well a bunch of Americans announcing something's gonna happen. It's actually got to happen. I think it will happen, but there are some people out there who don't want it to happen, in the finest traditions of these things, and they'll be laying explosive devices trying to blow it up. I don't think it'll work and I think anyone doing that and all their lackeys who are doing it with them will disappear in the fullness of time. Mr C: So, Liberty have put some money forward already though, haven't they? Joe: Just a little billion, nothing too major. Mr C: So is that not enough to at least start the ball rolling? Do you not have confidence in the deal? Joe: Presumably, one has to assume it's been paid. Nobody's actually said they've got the money and here's a receipt. I presume they have. -

Lotus F1 Team Preview Introduction by Gerard Lopez Forward Progress The Lotus F1 Team Chairman sets out the team’s ambitions for the year ahead. New season, new name. We are very proud to kick off our 2012 campaign under the name of Lotus F1 Team, continuing with the evocative black and gold livery which made such a well-received return to Grands Prix in 2011. As well as a new name for the team we have a new chassis designation: E20. The E is for Enstone, our state of the art Formula 1 facility nestled in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. More specifically, it’s for the personnel that make up Enstone to highlight the pride we have in every single employee who shares our beliefs and goals. We have two new race drivers too, with Romain Grosjean promoted to a race seat after impressing us with his potential after just two Friday runs in the car in 2011. Racing alongside Romain will be 2007 Formula 1 World Champion Kimi Räikkönen. After two years contesting the World Rally Championship Kimi returns to Formula 1 fresh for a new challenge, and with 156 Grand Prix race starts, 18 wins and one world championship we are convinced that Kimi will provide a vital ingredient in driving us forwards. In 2011 we pushed on with developments behind the scenes, and the addition of the 60% wind tunnel which was implemented during the course of last season should pay dividends for this year’s car. We’re not standing still either, and our next exciting resource to go online will be a ‘Driver in the Loop’ simulator to enhance our assets at Enstone yet further. -
